Guest guest
http://www.peta.org/alert/Automation/AlertItem.asp?id=1570 Urge Prime Minister of Serbia to Stop the Torture of Dogs and Cats by Municipal Workers http://www.peta.org/alert/Automation/AlertItem.asp?id=1570 Home > Action Alerts > Urge Prime Minister of Serbia to Stop the Torture of Dogs and Cats by Municipal Workers After receiving reports from Serbian citizens about municipal trash collectors reportedly ordered to round up stray dogs and kill them with injections of a dangerous pesticide (Nuvan), gunshots, hanging, or even live compaction in the trash truck, and receiving documentation from Belgrade about homeless dogs and cats killed by cruel people and hung by their necks throughout the city, PETA sent letters to the prime minister and the Ministry of Agriculture, urging them to institute humane animal care and control programs and to pass legislation against cruelty to animals. Although we offered help, no one even bothered to reply to our letters. Recent reports indicate that the Serbian government is stepping up its efforts to round up homeless dogs and cats. Sadly, the government’s efforts do not appear to include humane methods of capture and handling, leaving the thousands of homeless dogs and cats in the city of Belgrade at the mercy of untrained and uncaring employees of cruel extermination companies. We recently received graphic photographs of dogs found dead and dying from what appears to be poison consumption. Please write polite e-mails to the following Serbian officials asking them to investigate reports of torture and cruelty to animals and to accept help from PETA and other professional organizations to institute humane policies and procedures for handling homeless animals: Svetozar Marovic, President kabinet Vojislav Kostunica, Prime Minister predsednikvladesrbije Dr. Dejan Krnjaic, Veterinary Director Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management kabinet.minpolj Bojan Dimitrijeviæ, Minister Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services kabinet His Excellency Ivan Vujacic Serbian Ambassador to the United States ambassador TM 8234
