Tofu and Such

Tofu is good if you fry it with some garlic and onions - especially

the marinated kind! Yummy! It goes sort of chewy on the outside, and

really nice and soft on the inside (I know, frying isn't very

healthy... but surely the inherent healthyness of the tofu somehow

balances it out? lol). Tofu is also good in sandwiches and stuff too.

And I think the Plamil garlic mayonnaise is the best! But then, I

never really liked mayonnaise, and I think the Mayola one tastes

like 'normal' mayonnaise, so that'll probably be the one you'll

prefer. But the garlic Plamil one is nice :) Plamil also do some nice

vegan chocolate - found in health food shops and some supermarkets.

One thing is not to expect all the vegan products to taste exactly

like their animal counterparts. Some do, some don't. But if you take

each new thing as just that - a 'new thing' - you won't feel

disappointed if it doesn't taste like you are expecting. But it won't

be long before you find stuff that you really like, and don't worry

if you don't like all of it. And if you don't like soya milk

(although as someone mentioned, there are lots of different brands,

as well as flavours like chocolate and vanilla), try rice milk (which

has a thinner consistency than soya milk), oat milk (which is quite

creamy), barley milk, almond milk... the list goes on!

Good for you for making the change! Too many people would agree that

what happens to animals is horrific and yet be too apathetic to do

anything about it. I know it can be hard to make a complete lifestyle

change. But don't worry, it won't be long before you won't know how

you ever lived any other way :) And equally, if you miss stuff like

cheese or whatever, after a while of not eating it you'll start to

feel sick at the thought of eating it. It's like your tastebuds

adapt, and no longer recognise animal products as 'nice' or

even 'food'. Have fun with all the new stuff!

Thank you so much for your advice and tips on tofu and mayonnaise. So far there is nothing I have tried that I don't like.. even the soya chocolate is rather yummy.. and I feel better physically than I have in years... and its only been a very short time. I also feel better "inside" which is priceless! Ginagothcatz <gothcatz wrote: Tofu is good if you fry it with some garlic and onions - especially the marinated kind! Yummy!
