Guest guest
Hi, It's time to buy shoes, but I don't know which ones last, or are comfortable. So many makes to choose from ... Vegetarian Shoes (Brighton): * My current shoes (conservative men's shoes, can't remember the style) have taken 3-4 years to wear out (gaps between sole and upper; heel lopsided), whch is pretty good going * Scuff very easily (someone else, possibly Stephen W, had that experience too) * Someone else told me their shoe fell apart really easily, but that was a different style So does anyone else want to post makes and models of shoes which have stayed together & comfortable for years? Guest guest
The Vegetarian Shoes " Oxford " style always seem to last me a long time. Guest guest
I got some from Ethical Wares (it was their safety boot), and have worn them constantly for nearly three years. They're fine, except a bit of a hole on the top which tends to let in water if it's really wet out. I also have some from Vegetarian Shoes (just bought a new pair actually, and they do seem to scuff easily), but the pair I've had for five years I don't wear very often because they take ages to put on. When I have worn them though, they've seemed quite tough and hard-wearing. They're both good makes from what I've experienced. I haven't really used any other online companies, but you can sometimes get good non-leather shoes in High Street shops. I suppose it depends on which company has the style you like best. , Ian McDonald <ian wrote: > > Hi, > > It's time to buy shoes, but I don't know which ones last, or are > comfortable. Guest guest
My DM boots from Vegetarian Shoes are still going after many years, a bit scuffed in places but hardly surprising by now. Sadly they do not make them anymore, which is a shame really as they did shoes too and I would have recommended those. Michael.
Guest guest
My current shoes are from vegetarian shoes, plain shoe with air cushion sole. I must admit that I am a little disapointed by how much they let water in through the sole join. Previously I had a pair of Oxford style shoes from Ethical Wears and they never let in any water and lasted ages. The Valley Vegan................... Guest guest
The new Vegetarian Shoes airsoles are just as good - made in England by a company with better ethical standards than most. They also do a good airsole shoe with a thinner sole than normal which passes off well as a posh shoe for business and other boring penguin occasions. The dress shoes all scuff easily, but can be polished. The VS VeggieHiker 4 is great. I like VS because I live in Brighton and can try the shoes on - sizes vary a lot because no one makes their own shoes with the exception of the really expensive people like Pathfinders or whatever they're called (none of whose styles I like). At least I can go in, try the things on and so on at VS. I have also bought shoes from the Vegan Store, but the quality in both cases has not impressed me - could just be those models, though.
