Guest guest
Linda Blair's ten biggest secrets The " Exorcist " star on angry spirits and roller skating. By Deborah Netburn, Times Staff Writer November 9 2006 Linda Blair has been working in entertainment for almost 40 years now. She got her start in 1968 on the television series " Hidden Faces. " Five years later she catapulted to an eerie and overwhelming fame as the possessed little girl Regan MacNeil in " The Exorcist. " These days Blair spends the bulk of her time doing dog rescue work through the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation, but she still takes acting gigs when she can get them. Tonight she appears as a guest star on The CW's " Supernatural, " playing a tough talking Baltimore detective who gets haunted by a vengeful spirit. This particular role was set up for her by the folks at " Extra " who then made a mini-reality series of sorts out of the actress' comeback. We spoke with Blair earlier this week, and she was very gracious about answering all our random questions. Linda Blair believes in angry spirits and dog angels. " Do I believe in spirits that haven't passed over? Yes I do. Especially in places where there is a lot of violence, like in castles from the medieval times. Do I believe in possession? Not so sure. Do I believe in good angels? Yes. Do I believe they are in dog form? Yes I do. " She has enjoyed acting more as an adult than she did as a kid. " As a child you are basically told what to do and when to do it. When you are older you get to choose a little more. I love it as an adult. You have a lot of history and more to draw on and more understanding. " She'd rather do comedy than horror. " I like comedy even though it is equally as hard. I kind of got molded into a dramatic actress in my teen years, but I've always had my own little silly girl side. It took a long time for me to do more comedy. I did 'Repossessed' with Leslie Nielson where I played this crazy little funny gremlin demon. I love 'Repossessed' and it reminds people to relax about 'The Exorcist.' " Despite her prominent role in " Roller Boogie " she no longer roller skates. " No. No more roller skating, I don't have time. " She went vegetarian in '88 and never looked back. " I became a vegetarian in 1988 from articles I read on the environmental effects of eating meat and then I dropped weight so fast. What you eat can help you or harm you and completely affect your life. Six or seven years ago I became vegan and all of a sudden one day, I thought I have to start writing a book. It is called 'Going Vegan' and was in bookstores for a while. I would change the title to 'Healthy Living' now if I could. " She begged out early on Halloween this year. " In the last few years I've found it very entertaining to receive children at my door. I'm in a nice safe neighborhood, and I got almost a hundred kids this year and every two minutes I was opening the door. So I had no choice--I put a little table out there with candy and some signs, and I said the witch is watching. And the dogs and I peaked out the window. " She's only living in LA for the sake of the animals. " I don't feel as if Los Angeles is home. I'm a country girl, but the animals need me here. If I can work with the city and draw upon the celebrities here, I can make a difference. I just found a property where I can do the physical and emotional rehab on rescue dogs. I'm in escrow, but it's a start. It took three years to find. " She likes a simple breakfast in the mornings. " I like my nine grain cereal and a soy beverage-- usually vanilla soy, I hate plain. If I'm on a set and I'm working I like a vegan burrito. You can do black beans, rice, and guacamole. " A dog named Sunny changed her life. " Sunny is the first pitbull that followed me home. It was after my mom had died and both my companion animals had died and I was devastated. A project I was working on wasn't going anywhere, and I wasn't proving myself as a producer. I was missing my mom and my dogs so much. I started fostering dogs and that lead to Sunny--this big black brindle pitbull following me home. At first I was scared, but he was so gentle and sweet. He changed my life. He healed my life. " Peter H Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.
