Guest guest
I'm not talking about switching to a high-protein/low-carb " Atkins " sort of diet, just getting the proportions more in balance. Having started on a diet just to get back to a healthy weight, I sat down and did some calculations on what I was eating and discovered I'm getting way too little protein. Government guidelines (and various other healthy eating guidelines) suggest getting about 15% of your energy intake from protein; I reckon I was maybe getting about half of that at most and so was having a disproportionate amount of fat and carbs in my diet. Thanks for the advice on the soy milk - I'm certainly not going to continue with anything that gives me that sort of reaction. What I was hoping though was that if I could discover the cause, I would then have a better idea about what sort of things I should avoid and whether there were any particular soy brands that were OK, or if there was a cooking or filtering process I could use to render the products " safe " . This would be helpful, not only in terms of switching to a lower carb/higher protein food source but also because of the wide prevalence of soy dairy products.
