Guest guest
Hello Well bit of a bombshell today...Ive been diagnosed as diabetic. Ive done a little research and I feel I would like to try a vegan diet. Im vegetarian anyway, but feel that cutting out diary might be a health benefit. Im not a 'veggie' for any ethical reason, I just dont like the taste or texture of meat or any 'meaty' products. So, if anyone has any tips or good ideas on supper ideas that I can incorpotate flesh with for my carnivore boyfriend please let me know! thanks Ebrenn
Guest guest
Hi, There are plenty of sites with vegan recipies out there. A quick google would likely unearth them, but if you can't find any, let me know and I'll take a look. Mind you, they will be vegan, not vegan plus meat. As most vegans are vegan for ethical, environmental and health reasons rather than from taste preferences, you won't find many writing recipes that call for or have meat as an optional extra! Guest guest
Hi John, Thanks for the reply, *smiles* ... I should have made it clearer, Im vegetarian, I just dont like meat, Ive not eaten it for years, however my fella is a carnivore, but loves his pusles nuts pasta etc, so I was trying to find tasty food that HE can add meat to and I have without the flesh thing! I shall have a scout about...can you tell me is there a decent soya milk that doesnt taste like evaporated when its cooked ie making porridge? I tried one and it was fine (ish) on cereal but tasted utterly foul when cooked! Lizzie John Davis <mcxg46 wrote: Hi, There are plenty of sites with vegan recipies out there. Guest guest
Hi Lizzie, Have you tried rice- or oat-based milk? We use Rice Dream, which seems to work fine both on cereal and in hot drinks and porridge. Even tastes good drunk straight, which is more than I've ever been able to say for soya milk! It isn't so good in coffee, where it gets that curdled look, but for that, Oatley seems a bit better, especially if you leave the coffee to cool for a couple of minutes before adding it.
