Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm new here, I just wanted to let you know about a new event that's happening in May in sunny Northumberland. It's a 3 day vegan event at Haggerston Castle, Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is a Haven holiday park. This is the first time we have done this gathering, so we hope it will be a great success. I wanted to do a vegan event in the North East as there are lots of us in the area, but we don't meet up together very often. I'm hoping we will get people coming from Scotland and other parts of the UK too. We will be staying in comfortable large caravans, each one has 3 bedrooms so there is plenty of room to share with friends, or to accommodate families. You get lots of facilities included in the price such as swimming, sports, and kids activities etc. There are many other activities available for a reasonable price. The site is a beautiful historic place with a big lake and woods, and is near Hadrian's Wall, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle (or Hogwart's school to Harry Potter fans), and the beach. Non-vegans are very welcome, but we are asking people to be vegan for the 3 days whilst they are there, otherwise it wouldn't be a vegan event any more! If you are not vegan but would like to find out more about the vegan lifestyle, and meet lots (hopefully!) of vegan people, this could be a good event for you. The dates are Friday 16th to Sunday 18th May for 3 nights. You can find out all about the site here: http://www.havenholidays.com/Parks/scotlandNorthumberland/haggerstonca stle/ We have reserved some caravans at a discounted price, and are encouraging people to book as soon as possible because once the first block of caravans has been taken, any more we book will be more expensive. This is because Haven's prices fluctuate on a daily basis according to demand. The later you book, the more you will expect to pay, and we are allocating the caravans on a first come, first served basis. At time of writing it costs £150 for a 3 bed 8 berth luxury caravan, or £50 for a 2 bed room if you are willing to share a caravan with other people. The maximum no. of people allowed in any caravan is 8 for insurance reasons, so you could get together with friends if you wanted to economise. Please note that we can't guarantee that you will be offered this price, as it will be higher once the first block of caravans has sold out. We can offer lifts from the station from kind volunteers if you are coming by public transport. There will be 2 group meals, on Saturday and Sunday, when everyone brings food to share. It is a self-catering event. We are hoping to include local day visitors in these events for a reasonable charge, to help cover our expenses, and more importantly, to draw local vegans together who don't normally meet each other. This project is run by volunteers and is non-profit making. If you would like further details and a booking form, email me fj.flanagan, put NEVG INFO. REQUEST (in upper case) in the subject line, and I will send you the forms by email. Please note that early payment is necessary to get the best prices, as once our first 6 caravans have been taken, it will almost certainly cost more for the next block of caravans that we book. If you know of anyone who might want to go who does not use a computer and therefore will not see this message, please let them know. This is a new project and we would appreciate your help in promoting it, so if possible, please tell your friends. Frances.
