Guest guest
I`m about 20 miles north west of Cardiff, in a south wales valley. No vegans round here......... Peter H Lesley Dove <Lesley Sunday, 6 April, 2008 12:57:19 PM RE: Wheres Izzy? The ad-hoc count should work, I'm counting, we have a good start already. I will summarise from time to time in case of any confusion (not too boringly often from now on I promise). I'd also like to suggest we could put our location and if we would like real life meetups, so any of us living close enough to each another can get in touch. I am sure some people will want to set up something local with other vegans, either social or active, or join in with whatever is already established in their area. Many vegans still hardly meet any other vegans in real life so it seems we could use the group to help end the sense of isolation. We make up less than 0.5% of the population so it is quite rare to find other vegans just randomly in day to day life (I never do). 1. John Davis 2. Paul Russell 3. Guest guest
Hi, Blimey, I was only joking! Good to see some more life in the list though. Guest guest
Hi Lesley - no idea how Izzy is either but I think it is some pop culture reference I am too untrendy to get! Peter - I am absolutely certain I was here first as I created the group, which was apparently on February 20th, 2000. That was back in the days of oneList, who were taken over by eGroups, who were then taken over by Incidentally, the founding date on the site is wrong because of the way in which the Vegans Uncensored group was spun off from it. Back then though email based mailing lists along with newsgroups were the dominant forms of online communities, the web was still emerging from being just one of various ways of using the internet. Now though the web is for many people the be-all of the internet and forum sites have taken over as hosting costs are cheap and the software is free. Which is why this list is so quiet, it is an outdated technology. Although provide a web interface to their groups it is not as friendly as proper forum sites, and does not come up when people search Google and the like. So instead people find places like veganforum.com rather than this little corner of old world internet. Michael.

Guest guest
Sorry about that - all new members are moderated until they have posted one valid message (otherwise we get a lot of problems with spam). Unfortunately I was out of the country and without a computer for two weeks and have only just got back today, hence the delay in taking you off moderation. I'll take a computer with me next time I go on my travels... As it was a family vacation I took the unprecedented step of not having a computer with me, so no email/ internet etc for two weeks (still a little jittery now as a result). The questionnaire goes out with the welcome message when you join the group. Here it is again... -- === member profile === Welcome to . In order to introduce yourself to the other members of the list it would be appreciated if you can complete and post a copy of the following profile. Your responses to the questions may be as brief or full as you wish, this is only meant as an introduction, any subject can be raised for discussion at a later stage.
