Is animal free shopper by the vegan soc any good? Amazon has some pretty

critical reviews. Its not actually available from the vegan website at

the moment, and from reading through previous threads here, I've worked

out that they are going to print a new edition soon

So far, I've worked out that the coop clearly labels whether wine is

vegan or not, and that heineken is a vegan lager (from this website).

Any other tips or help welcome

Thanks

Vicky

Hi,

I must admit to never having found it that useful. And given that most

supermarkets are at least beginning to label their products as vegan, it is

perhaps not as necessary as it once was.

That said, I have found non-food products in it before that I didn't know

about. And there will indeed be a new edition out soon (I've just spent the

weekend proofreading it!), so if you do want a copy, I'd leave off trying to

get hold of one until the new one is available.

IAWTC - I picked up a couple of free ones at BVF and by far the most use has

been the non-food products. The one other thing that it was really useful

for, though, was providing a copy for my parents who aren't inclined to do

the research but were appreciative of a bit of guidance on what they could

feed me.

The animal free shopper is the best reference in book form around. There are

various web sites (including a web based version by the vegan society )

However, once you get to know the basics I found that you dont realy need it.

Best bet if in doubt ...leave it out. try making stuff from scratch in bulk,

thats what I do ( curries & chillies & pies etc ), and freeze the extra meals.

Have you considered joining the vegan society?, you get a magazine 4 times a

year which has a lot of helpful stuff, plus information on all sorts of other

vegan topics besides food.

If you do intend to buy the animal free shopper, buy it from the vegan society,

let them have maximum profits from the sale.

Thank you all for your replies

I think I will get a new one, from the Vegan society when it comes out.

I didn't mean to monopolise your message boards, but I have lots of

questions...

Will no doubt have more.

Cheers

Vicky
