eh, wot do you expect, its domino's...

i will never forget the article i read about the man who started domino's, i

read this back in the 80's, and the humanitarian stated we should get rid of

welfare entirely because you could just get someone a bag of oats and that would

last the family all year...

FYI: I edited the text a little, corrected the spelling and other errors

(sorry, I'm a teacher :)

This is in regards to your commercial debasing vegetarians to promote your

" meat lovers pizza. " I am honestly embarrassed to have seen such nonsense.

As a former customer and supporter of Domino's Pizza I can assure you that I

will no longer be buying my kids (who are also vegetarians) cheese pizzas,

breadsticks, salads, etc, from Dominos any longer. I hope your

anti-vegetarian idea was worth losing about $200 a month. We will now be

buying from Papa Johns, a business that doesn't hate us vegetarians.

Domino's pizza, besides being gross, (ha, had to slip that in) can't be "prepared" vegan

they have whey in the dough, and certin ones have mono and di-glycerides as as well

Hi, glad you are doing well. My husband is from Utah and when we met he was

delivering pizza for dominos part-time. As far as I am aware, dominos thin

pizza bases are vegan. Me and my husband have been to Utah since we got married

and have eaten the thin domino base pizza, we had a veggie hot one obviously

with no cheese and we had the hot sauce with it. As I say, my husband is vegan

and worked for them. This was in 2003 so the recipe for the thin base may have

changed but you could ring and check.

Hope this helps.

Elizabeth

Hope you are enjoying living in Utah too! It's lovely there :)

for what its worth, this is dominos stock reply

Thank for your interest in Domino's Pizza. To answer your question regarding...our use of animal products in your pizza--cheese, sauce, crust (such as rennet, flavorings, etc.). Due to the nature of our operations we can not assure you that our products will meet your Vegan requirements. Our Domino's dough is a yeast leavened product, containing Flour, Water, Oil, Sugar, Salt, Yeast, Vital Wheat Gluten, Ascorbic Acid, L-Cysteine, SSL, Whey and Alpha amylase. The L-cysteine is a microbial based product. Domino's Pizza sauce is a blend of Water, Tomato Paste, Salt, Sugar, Spices and Herbs, Garlic Powder, Citric Acid. Domino's Pizza Diced Cheese for Pizza is a specially produced cheese made exclusively for our use. It is a natural dairy product, produced from cultured, pasteurized milk, rennet; and salts of calcium and/or sodium. The type of rennet used in the production of this cheese is restricted to a microbial-based rennet or a genetically-engineered rennet. Animal derived rennets will not be allowed. As far as the other cheeses (Cheddar, Parmesan, Provolone, etc.), Domino's does not specify the source of rennet used in these products. They may or may not contain animal rennet. This depends on the supplier's current source and is always subject to change without notification to Domino's Pizza. The source for mono & di-gylcerides and enzymes used in our products is unknown and would require a great deal of time to research.

Hi everyone

Just a quickie...

I'm a little confused about why the Domino's pizza THIN BASE is not classed as

vegan. The website nutritional details say that it contains milk, but from the

following ingredients i cannot see where.

Can someone enlighten me please.

The ingredients for the thin base are:

Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Water, Soybean Oil, Yeast, Dextrose,

Leavening: Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Maize Starch,

Monocalcium Phosphate; Preservative: Calcium Propionate, Emulsifier: Soy

Lecithin.

....hope you had/are having/continue to have a fun time throughout this festive

period.

I can't see anything in the ingredients, apart from possibly something like the

Calcium Propionate, which may somehow be derived from milk - I think usually

those sorts of things are all synthetic and fine, but who knows? The only other

thing could be cross-contamination. Instead of the old " may contain traces

of... " some companies have started putting " contains... " , maybe to doubly cover

themselves in case of an allergic reaction?! Other than that, I'd say it looks

fine. Maybe contact Dominos and ask them? It'd be a shame to miss out on

potentially vegan pizza because of a labelling mix-up, plus it will show them

people are concerned about dairy products.

Hi

Yeah, I think I'll email them to check, as it may just be an error on their

part, in which case I'm sure they'd like to correct it.

Thanks
