Guest guest
Hi - I wouldn't worry too much. My son often brings (meat-eating) friends home from school and they happily eat our funny vegan food with with us. I usually stick to simple stuff though - pizzas, pasta, sausage and chips, baked potatoes, various convenience foods (the Fry's schnitzels seem to go down well !). Fussy kids are going to be fussy whatever kind of food you serve them, but happily we haven't yet had any problems feeding the various waifs and strays who come here after school. Guest guest
Check before she comes what she likes, she may like piza most kids do and will eat a cheese & tomato ( or scheeze & tomato ), spag bol with soya mince, chilli etc, but find out first then get out the analogues, and see if she notices. Guest guest
For pizzas, I just use a ready-made base (there are often nice ones in Health Food shops, or the cheap Sainsbury's ones are vegan I think), use whatever pasta sauce I have to hand, add veg, then use Redwood's cheatin' cheese. Works great. The non-frozen garlic bread in Sainsbury's was also vegan last time I checked, for a nice unhealthy side-dish! Guest guest
Sadly I'm far too lazy to make my own pasta sauce, or at least, I don't do so very often. I do, however, manfully struggle all the way to the supermarket to forage for my pasta sauces there. With quite a few products the cheap/value versions are vegan whilst the expensive versions aren't, presumably because for some reason people think that adding butter and eggs makes something better... Guest guest
Sainsburys also have vegan pizza bases - not all of them though - you want the ones in the clear plastic (2 bases). They freeze so they are a useful standby. Guest guest
hi john lol i'm glad i'm not the only one that can be bothered to make it fresh!! to be honest i think people are just going along with what they are taught, like sheep (though i heard that sheep are quite intelligent and have complex social lifes plus i prefer the sheep sheep better then the human verity) and most people seem to be happy not questioning their diet.....ok am not gonna rant, nope wont! wont!
