Guest guest
Quite often there is this difficult question of " what to cook today " . I usually plan the week's menu ahead, and although I do not stick to it completely, it helps with the weekly main shopping and makes life easier. I keep the menus in a folder on my computer and can check what my children did like (or not), and how to avoid the repetitions. Today I am posting a few summer favourites that are also fit for a low budget and will not keep you in the kitchen too long. I do something like that when I'm feeling organized. When I'm not, I fall back on our standards, or on one of my favorite activities, which is creating dinner from whatever we have in the house. >I keep the menus in a folder on my computer and can check what my >children did like (or not), and how to avoid the repetitions. >Today I am posting a few summer favourites that are also fit for a >low budget and will not keep you in the kitchen too long. But I found out that this does not work the way it should. Even if there is a basic stock in the pantry, there is always the shopping for fresh fruit and vegetables, and if I don't have a plan to stick to, I tend to buy things I fancy at this moment. The strange thing with the planned-ahead menu was in the beginning, when I put it on the fridge(rather for myself) My children spent time there every morning going " hmmm hmm " and every change created a small family crisis (so I stopped doing that) And thanks! I am glad you find some recipes useful. Warmest regards, Gabriella > I do something like that when I'm feeling organized. Guest guest
It is always refreshing to have someone like you on a list, Mark! And no, I don't have this down to a science, but I enjoy doing whatever I do here (which has nothing to do what I do in the rest of my life) I do not see anything disturbing in revealing what my children like and do not like as long as it concerns their pros and cons in taste. And my son, who is a co-moderator on this list does not seem to have any psychological problems with that. This is a rather private list, so I take the freedom to post whatever I want. After all, this group is about cooking, not about politics. Gabriella , Mark Jackson <thesportsguru47> wrote: > WOW!! Gabriella, you certainly have this down to a science don't you!!! Did someone say it was disturbing, or negative in any way? serene -- My website: http://www.serenepages.org Learn From History: http://jhuger.com My eBay stuff for sale: http://tinyurl.com/3d3lv
Guest guest
Not sure if I was supposed to read between the lines (one can't fight old habits, but I read everything that way - yes, even cookbooks) If it was not meant to be sarcastic, I am sorry, Mark. Thanks Sandra for being a more gentle spirit than I am. (Why do you think all these Greeks in Greek films throw plates??? Well, that is where I am coming from. ) , " serene " <serene@s...> wrote: >> Did I miss something? I was just confused. (By the way, my admiration of you is sincere. :-) serene -- My website: http://www.serenepages.org Learn From History: http://jhuger.com My eBay stuff for sale: http://tinyurl.com/3d3lv

Guest guest
I was not being sarcastic, and I meant what I said, and thank you, and thank you too Sandra. While it is not what I would do,I was and am truly impressed by someone who takes that much time and energy to focus on her job so to speak. I am a more free spirit, although I am an analyst by trade( I am actually an economist and a mathematician) I do have a very creative side,I play the piano and I am sort of an artist with my food. I buy foods of different varieties that appeal to me, and then I think of creations, or ways to put those things together. I also have a different situation in that I am into raw foods, and the rest of my family is not. I do most of the cooking and so it is a challenge to make new and different things. I do really enjoy this list!! It also helps me with my own group. Guest guest
Thank you Mark and sorry!! (I mean it, too) If you don't mind, please reveal a bit more about the raw-food diet. I am a complete ignorant when it comes to anything uncooked that is not fruit and vegetables ,although I have tried grains soaked overnight as a muesli for breakfast and oats are eaten raw most of the time anyway (if its not English porridge) Warm regards, Gabriella , Mark Jackson <thesportsguru47> wrote: >I also have a different situation in that I am into raw foods, and the rest of my family is not.
