Hallo Elaine,

Nice to find a friend in Amstelveen. I guess you came from Switzerland and

married a Dutch man, judging from the family name?

You asked me to write a bit about myself. I was born in Amsterdam in Nov. '46

and spent the first 19 years of my life in Amsterdam Zuid. I went to the

Montessori kindergarten and elementary school in the Nierstraat. It is the same

elementary school which Anne Frank visited years earlier and I actually had the

same teacher.

Afterwards I went to the Montessori Lyceum and after I graduated, I did not know

what to do. Friends went to university, but I took a typing course :) Then a

few months later I came to Jerusalem, just for half a year. I had this boyfriend

in the Technion, so decided to study at the Hebrew University. Boyfriend and I

split, but I stayed on and after 13 years married my husband whom I had met at

university.

Because of him, I had to move to his " ancestral home " in Kiryat Haim, which is

located somewhat to the north of Haifa. And here I am still stuck in this

uninteresting little town. Our children grew up here, near the sea. The country

is flat, which made it much more pleasant to walk with a stroller than in hilly

Jerusalem, so there are some advantages.....

Our son Gil is 24½ and studies psychology at Bar Ilan University (we are not

religious) and lives together with Michal, whom he met in Nepal. Both are

vegetarians.

Our daughter Hadas is 22½, lives at home, is a working student and our son, Itai

(21) is fulfilling his military duty. Both of them are meat-eaters outside of

the home. Sometimes I also eat a bit of meat outside (for example at a wedding).

BTW our wedding was completely vegetarian and a great success!

Hope I answered your questions and now it is your turn to tell us a bit about

yourself!

Greetings/Groetjes ~ Dorith
