Seitan - Chicken Style (water pack)

Seitan - Chicken Style Meat of Wheat (box)

Seitan - Traditional (box)

I really like the Chicken Style, It has a convincing texture to me.

I have not seen the Meat of Wheat in Atlanta GA.

The Traditional and Stir Fry strips I use sometimes.

From the website:

Are White Wave products Kosher?

All White Wave products are certified Kosher or Kosher-DE. In general,

kosher

means that a food is fit for consumption according to Jewish law. Foods are

considered Parve if they contain neither meat nor dairy. Kosher DE means

that

a kosher food has been processed on dairy equipment.

The STAR-K and SCROLL-K symbols on our packaging indicate that our products

are either Kosher (Parve) or Kosher DE (Kosher run on Dairy Equipment).

I think that this is circle-K certified.

SMART GROUND BURGERS & SAUSAGE

• Gimme Lean Sausage Style

• Gimme Lean Ground Beef Style

• Smart Ground (original)

• Smart Ground (taco & burrito)

• Light Burgers

Lightlife also make tofu dogs that I like. Others do not. They have almost

no texture and that looks and cuts funny.Their heat and eat products (smart

cutlets) I did not like at all. They had a fake texture and flavor and the

gravy was just inedable. I tried this several years ago. They may have

changed their recipe.

Their Tempeh and seitan have a texture like 70's vegitarian that I do not

like.

To their credit, when I have called with a suggestion, question or a problem

the customer service department always make me very happy.

TVP is a trademark of Archer Daniel Midland Co

This is typically a dry product (long shelf life, no refrigeration,

economical to use) that is rehydrated and then used in a recipe. Most of

their products are kosher certified.

I can not remember which company that I used to purchase this. I will see if

I can find a name and contact info. They had a huge list of products in a

very simple/cheap catalog (mostly kosher but not all) Books and recipe

books. One of the books I purchased and can not locate now is about making

seitan and some recipes. Basically it involves cooking a high gluten flour.

I tried it once without success and never really had the time to figure out

the recipe.

TVP was available in sample packs that had several textures (ground meat,

chips, flakes, chunks and strips) and (kosher) flavors (unflavored, chicken

beef and more) though the beef seemed a little too " real " . It was packaged

in 1, 5, 25 & 50 lb bags. Good cost savings with each increase in size. You

can try something as small in a sample pack and purchase a reasonable size

for your needs.

I purchased a sample first and then two 5 pound packages of different

textures.

The website below is just one that came up on Google. I have not dealt with

them at all.
