Getting ready for Passover

Many people have complained that Pesach is an expensive holy day

because we buy so many new items. However, that need not be the

case.

By using Rabbi Blumenkrantz's book,

you can certainly find household products, cosmetics, and

medications, including prescription drugs, which are not only kosher

for Passover, but the year round. By using these products in the

house almost exclusively, additional expenses will not be incured

because any new and unopened product that you buy will automatically

be used up later during the year anyway.

It never hurts to put yourself on some of the snail mail and e-mail

Passover food lists so that when they arrive a few weeks before

Passover, you will be able to start planning your pre-Pesach shopping.

REMEMBER THAT PRODUCTS ON LAST YEAR'S PESACH LIST MAY NOT NECESSARILY

BE KOSHER FOR PASSOVER THIS YEAR because companies sometimes change

their manufacturing processes, use different equipment, or use

different ingredients. Even where everything else is the same, the

ingredients which are used to manufacture the products might not be

acceptable for the production runs this year!

Because there are so very many laws of Passover, it is important to

get an early start. The following is a link to a site which lists

the general places where we have to search for chometz before

Peasach.

Set aside a few of the areas where you know that few if anyone will

go before Pesach, like parts of the attick, basement, garage, or

workshed, or various closets and plan on doing those jobs a few

months before Passover so that you can concentrate on the areas of

the house where people will actually be eating and living during

Pesach when Pesach is close at hand and not have to become exhausted

trying to do everything in the last few weeks before Passover.
