Guest guest
Seriously! but the porridge should not be dried, just set as it does naturally to the consistency of a slightly wobbly polenta. [ Now there is a name for the lead signer of a vegan punk band Wobbly Polenta] The best porridge tempura I ever made was made from whole groats and not rolled oats but you will get by with them. Just uses enough water and cook for long enough to make it smooth. SO many kids are realy put of by porrage just because it is not cooked well. I made friends with some Japanese poeple recently and they love it as it reminds them of their Mother's goma [?] or rice porrage and have an appreciation for the mix of bland and savoury flavours. Hokkaido pumkpins are the firm fleshed pumpkins generally with a strong dark green skin instead of the big water orange ones used for " pumpkin faces " this time of year. Best recipy for them; cut into big cubes, a little bigger than you can bite and saute in roasted sesame oil with an equal portion of similarly sized carrot and ginger to taste. Once starting to turn golden, pour in sufficient carrot juice [ fresh or Eden brand - all the rest are awful and will spoil it ] to cover the vegetables and simmer down until the pumpkin is almost about to crumble. It should be dry-ish on the inside but in a delicious thick sauce. Add a little scoosh of shoyu sauce [ not any of the cheap supermarket caramelised soya stuff ] and sprinkle with some green nori seaweed flakes. Delicous. So sweet it could almost be a pudding. _________________________ Pet grouches [ for I do have some ]; Why do Ecover use Milk Whey is their washing up liquid? [ Doh! What product is more likely to have a considerable number of vegans and wholefooders buying it? ] Tesco's organic ranges, all sugar, egg and butter added. Ditto. [ I did not fight in the bloodied trenches of Whole Earth and the orgnaic movmeent in the 80s for the likes of this lot. ] Hanging is not good enough. * You cant tell that I have been label scanning again. Normal humans call it shopping. Tesco's Hackney Central has just opened 24 hours which is quite cool when you see poeple with bikes pushing them up and down the aisles at midnight. _________________________ So who are you Mr T and your Happy Valley? And what are you selling? If you have somewhere nice, I will come and visit. Are there any string attached? Religous commitments to make aand so on? Guest guest
> Why do Ecover use Milk Whey is their washing up liquid? Good news, John. Ecover also do a vegan washining up liquid, approved by the Vegan Society and all. I know my local Sainsburys don't sell it but my health food store do. Have you tried looking in there? Regards sue.
