more culinary cultural confusion

Hi, just had a snack for lunch and thought to post it up on the list as

more culinary cultural confusion for your edification.

buy come block of mochi and grill it on both sides [ it is a Japanese

product made from glutinous rice mashed into a little hard block ].

Grill it slowly on both sides turning from time to time until it is

golden toast, the rice inside will expand out in a sticky way and puff

out until it bursts open leaving prety much a crispy golden shell. [ This

is more porridge stuff really ].

Now take the shell and open one end of it with a knife or teaspoon and

take some black or green olive pate as made by Chalice Foods and scoop

enough of it in side you. I recommmend the Greek Kalamata olives one.

If you really want to treat yourself, then sprinkle with green nori

flakes and indulge.

Actually a bit of indulgence without the nori flakes is fine as well.

It is a little bit expensive to buy but a real treat and quicker and less

messy to make than chips. Needless to say it is a tres elegante offering

and better for you. Although I suppose that you could put tomato sauce on

it as well.

Best wishes.

Hear from you soon,

John

> [ nori flakes ]

What are they ? Sounds like some sort of breakfast cereal... I also enjoyed

the meal very much, I don't think I've experienced quite so many flavours

since they stopped making Rubble Gum. Look forward to the next one, Indian

food sounds wicked.
