Almost. I'm 21.

I'm new to the list.

Is anyone here from the Mid-West?

I'm beginning to think my friend, James and I are the only vegan in a 400

mile radius... :)

Can anyone tell me how they managed to cope with partners, family, etc, after

becoming vegan. My partner says that I am being unreasonable because I won't

buy him or his daughter meat or dairy products and cook them for him and her.

I explain to him that I don't believe in eating meat or dairy products and

that i think it is wrong and he says that I am trying to force my opinion on

him which he says is unfair. I don't see how I can abstain from animal

products myself and yet buy and cook them for other people. Am i being

unreasonable? He also asks what i would do when inviting people out to a

restaurant for a meal. Would I only pay for the meals of people who ate

animal free meals or would i pay for all meals even if they had meat as one

of the courses? I replied that I would probably take them to a vegan

restaurant so that there was no conflict but he says that i am being

unrealistic. Please, can anyone offer advice? i live in northwest England by

the way, between Manchester and Blackpool, in a town called Preston.

Hi Mark I think you have to live by your ethical code .If i have a thief for

a friend, he can't expect me to hide the stolen property. I think its

impossible to live with animal eaters{unless you are only doing it for

health reasons].My elderly mother now lives with me and gets a vegan diet

....she understands that i have no choice .She could always move out .I

take my kids and their friends to afast food vegan cafe for birthday

treats. How long have you been tog. If you cant get them to at least go

veggie at homeit will be a source of conflict.I had a boy friend who became

veggie and the sight of cow milk used to make me visualise cows calling for

their young and calves in veal crates. I could n't live with this.I'm only

comfortable around vegans, and i cannot eat with animal eaters{vegan

30yrs].Iwoul d n't eat with a rapist/serial killer/hunter/vivisectionist/etc

or selfish people who cause immense suffering by eating animals.Get

yourself someone else you are worth far more.Compassionate people deserve

the best.Your friend sounds like a bully? Is he draining your self

confidence?All the best.angiewright
