Hiya Mark,

When I decided to go vegan, I had a few conflicts with family and friends. They said I was becoming obsessive and it was a 'phase'. My husband also believed I was going too far with it all too. Though surprisingly, my mother was very supportive.

I was a vegetarian before I became vegan, I had been a veggie for a long time and when I met my husband he was a meat eater. When we lived together (as I did the shopping and mostly the cooking) I never bought any meat and was buying soya products instead, and cooking wonderful wholesome meals he thoroughly enjoyed ......

......anyhow he is now vegan through his own choices. Fortunately he was very understanding once I told him the facts about veganism and he has read many of my books too.

My defence when family first criticised my eating habits are supported with so much information, no-one can have a valid argument FOR eating meat. I read a lot on the subject and try and encourage family to read up on it too. They understand my views and respect them, but it took time. A year and a half to be exact!!

I think Angie is correct in saying that if your partner is not supporting you then he is not worth staying with. The whole point of relationships is to support your loved/cared ones in any choice they decide to make in life if they like it or not!!!

Maybe you need to sit down and talk this through.

Good luck and be patient.
