Guest guest
grass is a favourite answer of mine to the " what do you eat question " too!! I liked the point about people using violence as an excuse not to become veggie...I agree completely...I was persistantly forced into an argument from two offended meat eating work collegues who were feeling brave and wise after a few pints the other week....when I had had just about enough of their boring perpetual purple faced justifications I spontaniously nipped the backs of their hands (one of each)...and I`d had just enough controlled anger to make it a very painfull nip too...I asked them if they liked pain and upon their " NO " responce I told them to shut up....apologies if I have caused a set back to the struggle.. Guest guest
Mr. Big...you're quite a fun one at times. It's an incident I would have liked to see From some replies here, I think I left the impression that vegans don't become vegans because all the vegans you hear of are 'violent'. I didn't really mean to say just that, and I think next time I'll be more careful in my phrasing. But either way, I have a feeling that in order to convince people of following a less violent path (ie veganism) it doesn't help when in replacement we show more violence. But whatever. I wouldn't have thought that the main association with vegans is borderline activism, but rather the much talked about " what do you eat " , " won't you get sick " and similar probably 'common sense' but still rather foolish questions. oh well, at least they ask. one of my friends said " listen, I hope you won't become all anorexic and vitamin deficient on me " (anybody ever got the bulk of their vitamins from animal products?? I wonder why that one always crops up. B12 is about the only thing meat has going for it in the vitamin dept....) Ah well, i hope that clarified things on my standpoint a little. When being perfectly honest, violence against people or things just strikes a chord in me that I don't particularily like, but I wouldn't avoid it just because of it being there. Sometimes a slap in the face is necessary - but blowing up mac d's? The only people that really suffer from such an action are the people employed there, not the organisation itself so much. Just keep telling kids how groce Mac D's is before they get hooked on it, and the problem will take care of itself eventually.
