Guest guest
> My point of view is that we should aim to be consistent, > either boycott all supermarkets because they are all butchers > (I admit I personally find that unrealistic), or use any of > them and encourage their provision for vegans. or at least me pro-active and attempt to shop at small independent stores by reference. they have added value as at least the money you spend int hems tays within the local economy. or in the case of the stores where i live, goes out to developing nation as unofficial economic aid! luckily for us there has been a great influx of Turkish Kurds into East London and they have taken over all the local grocer bsinesses from the East African Asian that ruled them last. the Turks eat a tonne of vegetable products, pulses and grains and like stuff fresh. i would rather shop with them than a supermarket but that 24 hours a day tesco is tempting for its organic and world food setion. green and black vegan chocolate come midnight... in london we are also totally spoilt by the roll out of two upmarket wholefood, organic stores, Fresh and Wild and Planet Organic. unfortunately it is a growing fashion for these trend setters to include organic meat products driven by commercial pressures and the prejudices of their owners. was there a big issue with the Holland and Barrett chain of healthfood shops being bought out by an industrial butcher called Brewhurst. did that change? trouble is all money is dirty ... but as Jesus said, " it is not what you put in your mouth that defiles you but what comes out of it " . john > Now tell me you are a vegan if you smoke, > are you sure you can say that you are? well, i can imagine you just gave a few ex-vegan smokers something else to cough about there!!! well done. i had no idea but intuitively had my doubts. may be i should add to my list of who would you trust to trade an unreligulate drugs market BAT [ British American Tobacco ]. not me on this evidence. nothing like a nice cigarette after your steak dinner for that lasting after taste of urea. add to that all the beagles used to test cigarettes and all the animals tortured in unnecessary cancer research. it is official. smoking is not vegan.
