Guest guest
'Alpha male' is the dominant male in primate societies - chimpanzees, gibbons, gorillas. In Gorilla society the most dominant male is the silver-back, he grows a coat of silvery hairs on his back. Alpha males demonstrate more aggression and keep the patriarchal societies in order. Bonobo primates (pygmy chimpanzees) live in matriarchal societies and there is much less aggression. Chimps have been recorded occasionally hunting down other monkeys for meat but bonobos have never been recorded doing this. Strange this because most of them, chimps and bonobos live on opposite sides of the Congo, separated by water.

Guest guest
Please can we quit attacking Mr Big? He has stopped being argumentative, so can we let it go please John? I don't think he's a troll, just another vegan with his own distinct personality, adding to the vegan diversity. But one thing I would like to know is, what does " alpha male " mean exactly? Guest guest
I just find myself rather amused by the two of you I never seem to under stand the language.whether it is philosophical or home-made language. And I never take any notice of it.I preferstraight forward language that most people can understand. If people dont know what one means there is no point in saying anything.I was never sure if Mr Big's comments ,or your reply's' made any sense. But it was good for a laugh anyway and there are always other people who do talk sense on this message board Angie - " john allan " <jallan <vegan-network > Wednesday, March 07, 2001 3:44 AM alpha males > > DO you two ]John/Mr Big]know each other ? > > you seem to have a very strong love/hate relationship. > > I think Mr Big argues for the sake of it .and perhaps > > it would be better if we try not to rise to the bait!! > > no, i dont know this particular perve [ his email is pervyempire ] but i > have met too many people like him. > > i am still waiting to hear his radical and proactive alternatives > > [ rather than his radical psychoactive alternatives ] > > or for him to answer for posting private emails and throwing abuse around > at women on the list. > > i dont suppose that *he* feels that *he* needs to answer for that though. > > every list seems to attract an alpha male so i guess we are stuck with > him as our's. we should just be really glad that he does not do steak, > can you imagine? > > i am just suspicious when you find a professional person hiding behind an > anonymous hotmail account when they must have personal or work email that > would hold them responsible. you know the kind of thing men use to > to porn sits with. > > as to waste time going onto chatlines to push electrons back and forward > at each other. what a joke! > > i was here to help out and network with other vegans. > > may be he is just a list troll promoting this " flicknife " site? > > john all*a*n > >
Guest guest
Ithink it means top male/leader of the pack/most powerful/one to look up to /one to be slightly in awe of/. cant think of any men that I would so describe!!!I think its an expression that men might want to aspire to SAD!!! I think they'd do better to try to be honorary{alpha? ]females !!!!!Angie - " Lesley Dove " <100706.3632 <vegan-network > Wednesday, March 07, 2001 12:23 PM Re: alpha males > > Please can we quit attacking Mr Big? > He has stopped being argumentative, so can we let it go please John? > I don't think he's a troll, just another vegan with his own distinct > personality, adding to the vegan diversity. > > But one thing I would like to know is, what does " alpha male " mean > exactly? > > Lesley > > > >
