Guest guest
I worked with a vegan guy in cornwall who got sterilized when he was about 26 so as to live out the " no reproduction " thing. A brave commitment to make, but one I suspect could have been born out of selfishness and masked by ethical justification. I think having children rekindles your soul. And Lezlee, (my friend) sociology is not about making excuses for people. Sociology is the study of scientific social facts. Some sociologists will point a finger at the individual, some at society, and some in between, but the science remains. People who grow up in deprived inner cities are more likely fail in education than those from " middle class " areas. They are more prone to developing serious alcohol and drug problems, more prone to unemployment, more likely to go to prison. These are social facts. Just as people in the third world are more likely to starve or die of HIV than people in the west. The cause is the question. You simply cannot ignore these facts and simply say they shouldn`t do this or they shouldn`t do that. They do, and their enviroment plays a huge part in it.
