Well, it looks like this is the thing to do now, so here it goes:

Name: Joana Fisher

Age: 23

Nationality: Portuguese

Occupation: studying Law at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa

Professional aspirations: to do an MA or Ph.D. on animal rights ( according to the Portuguese law, animals are objects!!!)

I was vegetarian for 5 years and I've been a vegan for 5 months.

I got married to Tom at the age of 21 and we have no children.

Main interests: History books, piano, languages and ethics.

I live in a tiny flat in Lisbon which I share with my husband and two dogs ( I'm sorry if this sounds shocking but I think our animals are very well treated).

Favourite book: there are too many special books in my life

Personal dream: to have a huge vegan family!

My best regards

Joana

P:S- Sandra, thank you so much for the information on the vegan cheese. They don't sell over the internet but we are going to ask a shop to import it.

Hello Joana. The EU used to have animals classified as agricultural

goods. The Treaty of Amsterdam (about 1997 I think) reclassified them

as " sentient beings " . Is this likely to have an impact on Portuguese

law?

Hello there.

We are a vegan family of three (me, Dave, Jade - 17 months,) thinking of moving to Spain or Portugal in the next couple of years, to live in a sustainable community somewhere. Can you recommend and contacts of (dis) organisatins who work with co-operatives or environmental or animal rights issues in Portugal / Spain? Is it difficult being vegan in Portugal?

We currently live on a boat in England - space is not a problem with our dog - so long as he has lots of walk he likes the comfort of a fairly small space.

Hannah.
