Guest guest
We did indeed go to Zen Palate (the smaller one, not the larger) but not Veg Veg. Our favourite restaurants while we were out there (although we were spoilt for choice) was Angelica's Kitchen and Kate's. Have you been to 'em? They do fantastic food. We've now got an Angelica's kitchen cookbook 'cos they were selling them when we were last there. We can now recreate all those delicious dishes in the comfort of our own kitchen and they don't taste half bad!!! > ---------- > john allan > Reply vegan-network > Saturday, April 21, 2001 4:21 pm > vegan-network > new york vegans > > hey nicky, > > did you check out Zen Palate or Veg Veg [ Vegetarian Paradise ] ? > > killer vegan eats. > > john > > Sacred Chow for cakes and biscuits afters and belgian Frites for vegan > chips. and, yes, i mean chips not fries. > > > >

My last job was right down the street, and it was so tempting to just order in from them every day. I love Kate's, but since just about everything they do is deep-fried with vegan mayo on it, and the like, I've stayed away from them (I've lost 20 pounds in the last 3 months, and have another 20 to go...even vegan restaurants can screw you up.). Angelika Kitchen is fantastic, but I can never talk any of my friends (non-vegan) into going there. They *will* however go to VP (Veg Veg). My roommate took me on my birthday, and since he's a decidedly *non-veg* kinda guy, he was hesitant, but he got a 'salmon' steak and said it was the best he'd ever had, real or fake. So if you get back into the city, definitely try VP...it's my favorite place in the city. Amanda
