Guest guest
Hey Sue, I once heard a radio interview with Alicia on Radio 1 (Simon Mayo), when he did his " God of the Week " feature. It was last year sometime. I had no idea she was into animal rights, but when asked who she would like to meet, she said Einstein, because he was intelligent and veggie, when asked who she would make a saint she said Martin Luther King, Ghandi and Linda McCartney. Who would she thunderbolt? The person who first decided to profit from suffering of animals. And her miracle? My memory is a bit vague here, but it was something like make everyone have the compassion to stop eating meat. Simon Mayo finished the interview and then made several remarks as if she was mad. After the news break he read out messages from several callers, one that stood out in my mind was from someone who said that " the starving in Ethiopia would be happy with any food including a big juicy steak " . It made me angry what they were saying about her, especialy since she was not around to explain (I think she'd done the interview by phone). Obviously the connection between the first world's excesses and the third world's poverty is not being stressed enough. Oh, and to top it all off the news item included a report that 2 horses had died in the Grand National (which means it must have been last april). She's quite cute too , but then compassionate people seem to exude an aura of warmth. --- Rob vegan-network, suzy.grayson@n... wrote: > Rob, > > In total agreement with your views.
