Guest guest
Yes, I don't see the difference. Just because we understand the deceased family, and consider it incorrect to eat them, doesn't mean we shouldn't extend this to all animals who don't speak English. I'd like to see some consistency for once. It's all hypothetical of course, but if I were starving and stumbled across a deer and a homo-sapian (dead), I'd eat the deer on the pretext that it's lower on the food chain (unless the HS was a vegan!). spacevegan [rob] 30 April 2001 00:30 vegan-network To Andy, Re: Cosmetics/Toiletries Does that mean its OK to eat human animals who have died of natural causes? vegan-network, alwbarnes@t... wrote: > > If I found an animal that had lived in the wild and died of natural causes I would eat it (if it looked appealing). Guest guest
Do you mean - Is it Vegan to eat naturally a dead animal? For my personal thoughts - I can't see why it harms anthing...so why not. Theoretically I would wear fur coats and leather shoes once they were second hand, rather than see them thrown away. IF something has been killed then humans should be bloody sure they make full use of it. Elephants are often left with only their tusks removed and the flesh is not made use of - what a waste of a life! The reasons preventing me from wearing animal garments though are It promotes/advertises it, [ii] It may cause me to get covered in red paint by one of those loony left AR protesters (joke!!!) Guest guest
There isn't meant to be a difference. For me being vegan is about NEED. If I felt I needed to eat other living things I would. If I was in a plane crash...(I suppose everyone knows the film) - I would. However, I have the choice so I make use of it to lessen suffering. As a side point I would love to invite meat eating friends round cook up a rabbit or fox and at the end of the meal mention that at least THAT animal hadn't died for them. When they query it -I'd explain they were accidently hit by cars, and I scraped them of the A1 to make use of the carcasses (in the same way the flies would have if I hadn't got there before them). To see their faces....lol Seriously though it is quite clear that we are extremely lavish in this country and in those countries where there is not a local supermarket - let alone a local market, I don't have a problem with how those people hunt and gather. We know that it is land efficient to plant crops etc but I think life is harder and such practices cannot be expected. Andy >Yes, I don't see the difference.
