Guest guest
http://home.earthlink.net/~tilleyrw/realities_90s.html The web address above links to the page that convinced me to become a total vegetarian (and later vegan). It contains a wealth of statistics (all with references citing books/studies/scientific texts) regarding vegetarianism with regard to world hunger, personal health and the environment. Does anybody else know any great websites presenting such complete and convincing arguments with references? It's a very good link With it, I have now much more arguments in my discussion with non vegs. Guest guest
Although maybe not exactly what Ash had in mind, the question reminded me of some of the web pages I saw recently of the UK-based Humane Slaughter Association, an animal welfare charity formed in the early 1900s. HSA argues for the present need to improve the welfare of animals that are currently farmed for consumption. http://www.hsa.org.uk/ The pages are not presented as arguments for veganism, and they are disquieting, but they do contain useful information. Unfortunately the factsheets lack references; I don't know what their other publications are like. Still, specifically I would recommend the concise one page summary of slaughter techniques in the UK. The language is calm, mechanical and matter-of-fact, which makes it all the more chilling; but valuable material: http://www.hsa.org.uk/farm.html (The Compassion in World Farming reports at http://www.ciwf.co.uk/ are usually good for including references; again with a UK slant.)
