BTW, no one has ever explained to me how fish was a natural food for

cats. i have never met a cat that could stand getting one hair wet

voluntarly.

Aye,

and if Thatcher had not been voted to power by women, all you students

and your younger brothers and sisters would have still been receiving

free education, we would have had a cheap nationalised railway system to

travel on etc.

the point you make is fair, there is a flipside to racial, class, sexual

differences where one should not be distracted by what ever someone

presents. someone may be black, female, from working class background but

horrendously self centred or ignorant of facts. i think it is a great

shame when minority uses their " disadvantage " to their own ends.

in a way, the whole veggie/vegan/eco thing is one of the first social

movement *not* to be wholy concerned with gaining advantages for itself.

i have just been reading up about the histroy of the East End of London

where i live. it turns out to have the real birth place of democracy with

The Chartists meeting in what is now Victoria Park to campaign for votes

for the working classes, the right to representation, a secret ballot at

elections, the end of privileges for MPs and so on. the manifesto written

by a chippie and his mate.

the movement and protests were at the time a failure. 500 policemen were

sent in with cutlases, hundred more in reserve, a regiment of Guardsman

at the ready. but look what changes happened to modern politics. i just

mention it post May Day because, how ever bad and messy these things

look, it is hard to tell what changes they make. likewise with food

politics.

to be honest, if i see someone from a background that has suffered

persecution, was emancipated and yet does nothing to pass on that favour;

i probably do think less of them that an outspoken " fascist " . one needs

patience... but i dont think that the planet has the capacity to absorb

generations more of dumb senseless materialist consumers and situations

like the rape of Palestine are awful to watch.

this is where the bite is going to happen. who gets to say who lives,

eats and enjoys and who gets to die in economic slavery.

the world seems awfully savage to me still. not noble.

My cat caught a fish the week I got pregnant with Jade. It was all sparkly

and rainbow coloured.
