Guest guest
> Suprise Suprise when the police turn up there is violence: > this time they publicised it in advance as a riot unfortunately I have to agree on this one. if the police had just been around in proportionately normal numbers, in uniform and caps instead of helmets and sheilds and used a soft touch as they do at, say, Notting Hill Festival, there would have not been voilence. Any petty crime such as paint spraying would have been reasonably checked before it happened. Everyone would have gone home before the last tube. Theft and voilence is not an issue amongst those crowds as it is in other. The odd bit of drunkeness may be. To do so they, the authorities, would have to concede the loss of a street or two for half a day but not much more than would have been caused by roadworks. Why make the problem? May be someone really does not want to make the alternative attractive to a large proportion of the public. And, of course, it justifies more public expenditure and secures " the need " for a police state. This is what seriously p=s me off about the so-called " anarchist " front, it is so self-defeating. john
