Guest guest
basically, in light of the recent McDonalds fries incident and my mom's brain cancer which i blame mostly on aspartame, i've decided to start a page that inquires about every product listing " Natural Flavors " as an ingredient. i still have punkforum.com's old account with SQL Server 7 and ASP that i have paid up to november on. i'm going ot use it for a vegan/excitotoxin product information page. it'll have two faces... and essentially be two sites... for people interested in either subject... but will use the same database and have some amount of cross-advertising i wrote, quickly, an preliminary envisioning doc please let the suggestions fly -- -- VEEGUN.COM - PHASE 1 - Envisioning Doc - rev. 5.18.2001 Veegun.com will help vegans determine if products containing " natural flavors " and ingredients that may or may not be animal derived are vegan. This page will also contain information for people worried about MSG and other carcinogens in their food, and may have another url/face specifically for people with these concerns. Goals of this website are to: · make life easier for health-conscious consumers.. for every product we list as a non-option, veegun.com will suggest other alternatives · dispel rumors · be highly dynamic and allow many people to constantly add new information. personally, i'm sick of the average, static vegan site… or sites with nothing more than recipes · remind the food industry of our presence with our incessant phone calls to them · recruit people into our healthier lifestyle Members will be able to sign up and choose whether they consume the following products: · meat · gelatin · dairy · eggs · refined sugar · honey · products exposed to cross-contamination · monosodium glutamate · hydrolyzed products · aspartame · sodium nitrate · bht · saccharin · potassium bromate Users will be presented with categories and lists of foods that, according to their profiles, they can or cannot eat. Users will be able to add comments, search for products and browse by category. Other features will include: · messageboard/rumor bin · articles · links Administrators will be able to: * Add an item to the database. This will be a time-consuming procedure, requiring a call to the company making the item, confirming a list of questions and entering every ingredient into the database. · Post articles. · Post links Issues to be resolved before launch: Many food products are not national. The question is raised as to whether or not we attempt to list every location the item is known to reside, or if users are just going to figure that our for themselves. The locality issue goes for restaurants too. I have not decided if restaurants are going to be included in the Phase 1. I think it is important, especially assuming so many vegans/vegetarians just assume tofu/fries are vegan at restaurants, when one never really knows for sure. Restaurants will, however, be much more time consuming and probably much more difficult to obtain truthful information from. At least a dozen administrators are needed, and a general knowledge of the various concerns is going to have to be proven. please email all feedback to ignu
