Does anyone know of a way to get rid of mice? I have tried everything that

has so far been suggested to me.That includes deterents such as peppermint

oil, cayenne pepper, filling gaps with steel wool. They don't let that put

them off coming in and eating all my lovely home baking! I have tried a

humane trap, but it was rubbish. Well, one of them went for the peanut

butter inside it, but judging by the teethmarks on the outside, the little

bugger got one of it's 'mates to help him out! Too smart for that! I've

caught them in a large bucket and took them a long walk, but they just come

back again. I've even asked them politely if they would just leave, but I

just got a strange look and they just carried on with what they were doing!

I can't play even play 'The Beatles' any more cos for some reason when I

play them, they come dancing accross the room! I guess I wouldn't mind them

staying there rent free, eating my food and loo roll, but I do not like my

bed or work surfaces being used for a toilet and the little darlings often

keep me awake at night. I think they think cos I'm vegan I must be a

pushover. Do you think they are taking the piss? HELP!!!

Firstly a serious suggestion and then one not quite so serious.

My opinion is that to get rid of them you will have to make sure that

all your food is way out of reach and in sealed containers so they

can't get at it, small animals such as mice (and insects such as

cockroaches) will go and stay wherever they can get an easy food

supply I would think. It may be a case of being a little ruthless and

starving them out since they are causing a hygiene problem. I am sure

they are clever enough to move on before they starve to death, that's

how they survive. You have to be strong and not look into their cute

little faces and be tempted to let them eat your food, because that

is why they like it there.

Just shows it's a myth that mice like cheese. Obviously they like

your vegan food just fine!

Other possibility, instead of the Beatles, play them some of the

tuneless rubbish out of today's pop charts, preferably ©rap such as

Eminem, since they are obviously mice of quite discerning musical

taste, that should send 'em packing double quick! Some horribly loud

punk music might work equally well, but get yourself some earplugs

first.

if ya lived closer, i have a humane trap that actually werks..but...

a. seal up and containerize all food items....don't give the guests anything to eat...

b. find all holes(if possible) and seal em...

c. somehow, get some cat smell into yer abode...mice don't like predators....

then again i remember standing dumbly in the kitchen watching a little brown and grey furkins scamper across the linoleum kitchen floor last winter and we have 6 cats in this haus..sooo

Thanks for the advice Lesley. Much appreciated. I have learned through

experience to hide my food and I always make sure there are no dirty dishes

or crumbs left lying about. But I find if they can't get to the food they

just start on the wood, paper, plastic, washing powder and bleach bottles!?

They're not too fussy. I don't have any neighbours they can go and annoy

instead!

Absolutely! Peanut butter is their favourite.

Hmm...that sounds like a great suggestion. Mind you, I don't know what would

be worse-the constant scratching of 'the little darling rodents' or that

persistent, annoying rubbish from Eminem! Earplugs would be good!

Really, where did you get it from? Was it expensive?

Done that, but as my house is made of wood, it's so easy for them to make

new holes.

Might just try that.

Hmm..guess I will just have to learn to live with them, then!!!

Thanks for your help!

it came from an animal feed store...i believe the brand is called havahart..they are metal, not plastic....cost about $8 ,...about 6-8 inches in length....

you have to take em far from yer haus to realize em tho,...mice have enormous homing senses it seems..

oh..and if ya got mice..rechoice...!!! it probably means ya don't have rats!!! :)

my main grumble with the furry buggers is there lack of hygiene and the fact that when they eat, they don't like to just nibble on one pice, but have to spread their tastes to every little corner...like burrowing thru a whole loaf a bread...

my problem right now is with snails......greedy buggers are eating every darn thing in my garden...first i just pulled em off and moved em...sooooon...more drastic measures may win out..i don't mind sharing...but i would like to at least try to eat something besides nasturtiums...hee

This is true, I'd rather have mice than rats!

Eeeew! I know someone that used to leave egg shells around the veg in the

garden to stop snails from getting at them. Doubt u eat eggs, but I'm sure a

neighbour wouldn't mind if u raked in their bin for a few!
