Guest guest
Hi Everyone! My name is Jim, 19; a Student currently living in Manchester, England. I study Maths, Computing, Philosophy and Psychology at A- level. To earn my money I neglect my stuides and do computer work freelance, mostly coding stuff for companies who can afford my riduculous costs, but I also do seminars and things like that. I like to travel a lot. I use My buisness trips cover the cost of my pleasure ones. Next month I'm proberbly in Florida for 2 days (fingers crossed). Hopefully that will make up for the big gap in my finances that I will no doubt face over the succeding months when I go Backpacking around europe. Is there anyone here from Manchester? Proberbly not, it's a big world out there. When I get back I'm going to Aberystwith uni (that's in wales for you non uk people), anyone know it? It's a pretty good place for us vegans, and just a fantastic, magical place in it's own right. I've been vegan for around 3 months now, so I'm pretty new. Before that I have been vegie for as long as I can remember, at least 10 years. It's mainly ethical issues. Well... I should get back to my exam revision. If anyone should want to mail me it's proberbly best you use my hotmail account because I hardly use the one. It's Que_Dee_You (long story behind the qdu bit), alternatively I'll proberbly check back here this time tommorrow. If anyone has MSM you can get me on that e-mail there, I have a headset if anyone fancys a chat... Well, thax for reading this far on my post, I look forwards to hearing from and chatin with all of yers about all things vegan and some things not. jim

Guest guest
____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hi. Thanx for the reply. I'm going to try to write more in between what you did, but it's getting a bit difficult to read what is what. Usually I use a different colour or somthing, but can't here. vegan-network, " Sue Grayson " <suzy.grayson@n...> wrote: > Warm welcomes from me!! > > It's so unbelievable at the amount of nu-bees lately!! Someone near my age for once!! I'm 18 by the way!! ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Cool! what is the average age here? I don't know any other vagans, so this could be a very useful place for me to come to if I want to talk about these things. > > > Next month I'm proberbly in Florida for 2 days (fingers crossed). > > Wow-wee!! Hope u have a good time. Let us know what it's like for > vegans over there!! ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I will. By my understanding it won't be too great. Apparently the US is ok for veggies, but not so hot for vegans (where is?!) Anyway, it's only 2 days and if I find a decent Jewish place I can live off bagels for then. Provided I get the job I'll be giving a seminar on my particualr speciality, computer game programing. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to myself whilr I'm there, It'll proberbly be fly there, sleep, talk, fly back. As well as my regualr studies I paint a lot and like to do very large canvases (the one I'm just finishing now is 5 by 5 feet, it was originally a present to my fiance until she called it off!) > > >Hopefully that will make up for the big gap in my finances that I > will no doubt face over the succeding months when I go Backpacking > around europe. > > You'll also have to tell us about all the countries u visit!! Are you > going on your own?? ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ No, I'm going with my oldest friend. A meat-eater I'm afraid but supportive at least to my ways. Of course I dissagree with it but I wouldn't hold it against him, for me to do that would be as bad as for him to judge me for my veganism. If asked I put my case forwards, I find people are much more likely to listen then if you ram it down their throats anyway, I guess I've converted a lot of people to vegitarianism. The plan is to start in Bergen, Norway and make our way south. Somthing like - Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Belgum, Holand, France, Austria (via alps)... erm... onto spain somehow from there. Hehe - 2 months surviving purely on black coffe, bagels and orange juice... just like now, really! Well... except under canvas! > > > Is there anyone here from Manchester? You've got my mail adress (Hotmail one) so get in touch. It'd be great to meet more vegans. There's a great veggie place here called the 8th day, or I could make the trip to Leeds providing I'm in the uk then. > > > When I get back I'm going to Aberystwith uni, anyone know it? > > West wales right?? One of the girls from my college is going there, > and she's a vegan to boot!! > ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It's a good place for us vegans, well... beter than most anyway! There are 2 places really - the treehouse and the rain cafe. Both are vegie really, but have lots of vegan options. There was somewhere else to but I can't remember what it was called... > >It's a pretty good place for us vegans, and just a fantastic, magical > >place in it's own right. > > Really? Please tell me more!! ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Well... to start with it's right on the coast; a fantastic coastline where you can go swimming in the sumer. I absolutely LOVE the sea, I can sit on the beach for hours and just look out wothout getting bored. There's also a cove where the students sometimes go, there'scliffs and things, erm... a castle, there's just so many little things that make it so cool. The whole place is a student town, and oriented towards student living. Oh, yeah and I'm told there's a pub where 7vodka and red bull will only set you back a fiver!!! (But is that vegan? I'm not sure but I think that some vodka is passed through a bone filter). Maybe you could give your friend my e-mail address. It's pretty daunting moving into a town where you know no-one and it's make it a lot easier if I knew someone else. Also if I'm going to have to share a dorm with 7 other stranger I'd prefer if at leas some where vegie/vegans strangers. > > > I've been vegan for around 3 months now, so I'm pretty new. I think I was about 9, but I can't be sure. My mum turned vegie about then, so I think that helped. I was the last out of me and my 3 siblings to convert though, I knew it was wrong but... I don't know... I just carried on, anyway that was a long time ago and now I'm the only vegan so I guess I've overtook them all My sister was proberbly 4 when she last ate meat and There's a girl at my college who is a lifelone veggie - she has never eaaten meat in her life. Pretty impressive, eh? I think male vegans are in the minority, in fact I don't even know another male vegitarian, apart from my brothers. > > > Well... I should get back to my exam revision. > > Lots of luck, i don't have any!!! He he he!! ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Cheers, I think I'll need it after spending all year doing stuff other than college. Still, I only need 18 point to get in at Aber and an A in computing will get me 10 of them straight off. > > Warm wishes, > Su(Sassy). ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hmmm... maybe I should post a pic of me? Can I do that? This for now ---> {:-) _Jim_

Guest guest
____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I'm back. Just been talking to my friend Ron on MSM, he lives in Pitsborough! I'll try to cut this down a bit to make it more readable. > Cool! Sorry about the fiance though. There's lots of single women here > for your perusal if you're interested!!! ____________ Jim Higson ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hehe. Maybe. I don't know, at the moment I'm moving around too much to get to involved with anyone again. I also work really silly hours because I have a habit of taking jobs with tight deadlines that no- one else would touch with a barge pole (I've been known to work 20 hours solid!) Still, other than prostitution, ther's no other way I could earn the kind of money I'm on now. Wait a minute, now there's an idea.... (j/k) After 2 1/2 years together she just called it off without explanation. I'm still pretty shaken and don't really have much faith in love at the moment. *Sigh* She's still refusing to talk to me. Maybe that's easier because it stops me thinking what a great person she was and makes me reconsider why we were together anyway. If it's over then that's her choice but I'd rather it was on good terms and that is only possible if we talk. > > ____________ > Sue Grayson > ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ > > > The plan is to start in Bergen, Norway and make our way south. > > Somthing like - Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Belgum, Holand, > > France, Austria (via alps)... erm... onto spain somehow from there. > > Sounds wicked!! > > > Hehe - 2 months surviving purely on black coffe, bagels and orange > > juice... just like now, really! > > Oh dear!! My ex's parents hated me for converting her to vegitarianism. Hehe - I loved that. > > > Well... to start with it's right on the coast; a fantastic coastline > > where you can go swimming in the sumer. You proberbly know about beers and wines and that. And no, genuine russian vodka is mostly not vegan I'm afraid. Oh, yeah and the last time I was in Aber I was on the irish Pootein. That's 90% !!!! And worth the trip down alone. Here I mostly drink neat scotch or if I'm out on the town Absinth, there's a bar here where you can get the real stuff. And that seven is NOT a typo, as you proberbly think if you say that's outrageous. That's SEVEN vodkas and a bull for a fiver - not bad, no? > I don't think she's on e-mail but i'll tell her about you when i go > back to college!!
