Guest guest
He he! I was J/K. Never take me seriously. Have you been okay? I'm not to good with pleasantries.... just cakes. I've never flipped a cake, I might try it now though. Thanks for the reference number, I'll be thinking of you at 17:00 while I'm hounding the Sainsburys help desk for a chocolate cake. MMMMM chocolate cake. I hear Sainsburys do Swedish glace too, I've never seen it there. They also have Yofu, which I quite like. PS I was thinking of sue " ing " Safeway, they keep pushing dead animal photo's through my door. PPS Does everyone have reward cards where they do their shop? If that's the case, we could get a fairly accurate number of Vegans by looking at the items. Guest guest
[long message warning - sorry!] About suing Safeway for their leaflets - that would be great. We'd never have to work again. I get pizza shops, local restaurants, leather furniture stores, Avon catalogs and all kinds of non-vegan sh*t through my door. Luckily most of it is recyclable. Occasionally get a " free " sample of the latest and greatest animal-tested shampoo (like we really need a new one). And letters from charities that use animals in their experiments (I usually use their freepost envelopes to send them some of the gruesome vivisection leaflets I have and also a form to support The Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research and the odd photocopied article on the health lies that the big charities spread. Am I bad for doing this? I often wonder...). We could use Jerry Friedman's " veganism is the functional equivalent of a religion " argument, but we might then have to notify people that we are vegans beforehand, which in this case could be a big green V on our doors (hmmm - maybe not - what does that remind you of!). I'm very suspicious of these loyalty cards. I'd like to be as anonymous as possible (I usually shop with cash only, except in really wierd places like the Psychodelic Dream Temple or Cyberdog - keeps the bank manager wondering! Anyway what do they do with the data? I've already heard of the Inland Revenue using evidence from a Tesco card to " prove " that someone's income was higher than they declared. They must have bought a lot of food! Does it say when you sign up that the data will be made available to government depts?. What about if they were to check them before you applied to adopt a child (since someone on the list [could have been ] said they were refused because they were vegan). They probably already know you're vegan, but they don't know what a vegan is, so they've got you down as " health conscious young professional " or something which is why they'll be sending you coupons for a few pence off their " healthy " range of low fat meat products etc. Cynical? Moi? Never! I just don't trust anyone (except for virtual people on a vegan mailing list who I've never met! Well, I've met some of you...). vegan-network, " Mccartney, Rowan (R.N.)
