Guest guest
______________________________ List Changes and List Business ______________________________ This may be really dry and boring and so you do not have to read it unless you really have to. It will make no real difference to the day to day running of the list nor your contribution. There have been a number of minor changes to Vegan-Network an ongoing effort to improve the presentation of the list, the way it runs and to avoid abuses of privileges that we have witnessed. As much as I would like this list to be fun for everyone, there are over 130 people whose interests and feeling have to be considered. € Please alwasy edit the replied to mail from your posts to the list. One or two line is all that is necessary to remind us what you are replying to and a well written email does not require it at all. Doing so make it very hard for those on Digest Mode to read mails and wastes bandwidth. € There has been a splash of colour added to the front pages. € Images and graphic will be uploaded soon if anyone wants to contribute, contact me. € The bookmark page will be regularly updated as URLs arise onlist. Again please contribute to make this an informative resource for other vegans and interested parties. € The title for emails from the list has been changed to 100% Veg*n from vegan-network. If anyone has any other suggestion that please send it to me. This was a necessary change for the benefit of Macintosh users, those on older PCs or those with older email applications for whom the length of the title was too long for their systems to handle. We need something short and I used this out of respect for Suzy Grayson's fabulous input to the list. € After the inclusion of pornographic images, attachments will no longer be forwarded to list members, if you want to send images you will need to include a URL address for them. The member that sent it has had his wrist slapped but is still on list. if anyone was offended, please contact me. € Please do not send HTML formatted emails to the list, they are impossible to read. There should be an option on your Hotmail account or Outlook Express to stop this. Groups cannot format this, neither can many non-Microsoft email clients and it is not a proper internet protocol. It makes emails very hard to read. AOL users have a similar problem to resolve with AOL over the way it formats emails. € Due to recent abuses, polls for the time being require the co-operation of a moderator, ask and ye shall receive. € Bannings. There have been no more new bannings. The only person still banned is Dave Watson [ mr BiG ] from all his three or four email aliases. Just why he needs all those email address only he can answer. Personally, I was quite happy for him to lurk and contribute positively from his new identity " Sarah Bastine PinkPlops Itchy Peas " but, again, he prove that he was inable to adhere to the reasonable list etiquette neceassary for a list to run smoothly and abused the privileges et for all members to continue his attack on me. € No one should be subjected to insults or threats on this list. It is very bad for the atmosphere. As the personal attack and now legal threats from him have continues On and Off list now, I have written and complained to his ISP about this. € Drugs My, or any of your own personal opinions and the terms and conditions that are set by for the hosting of these lists ar two entirely separate matters. We are bound not to use them to promote any illegal activities which include drug abuse and I am decided to err to the side of caution on this matter. There is a clear line between informed, educated discussion and propaganda and plenty of other forums to discuss either arguments. € On Topic, On List; Off Topic, Off List and " Noise " . Just to introduce the widely accepted concept of list etiquette, or netiquette to those that have not come about it before. " OT " stands for " Off Topic " " Noise " is Off Topic conversations. Items relating to vegan issues are On Topic and acceptable. Other issues at " OT " - Off Topic and *may* or *may not* be acceptable. Prefacing your emails with OT: when you wish to discuss Off Topic threads will help others decide whether they want to read them on not. Off Topic threads help keep lists healthy and fun *but* can go too far. Switch your concience on before hitting that button and avoid flame wars. Police yourself and consider when apost would best be sent to anindividual rather thant he whole list. As lists grow this " Noise " can become a problem. Be nice to each other and an example to others. The world looks at you and sees Veganism through you. Thank you for your attention, John Allan list mom. Apologies to those affected by the changes but they were done late last night and as time allows.
