Guest guest
>What is Hitchock's? Another mini guide coming up... If anyone is ever in the area I would recommend they stay the night just to be able to experience Hitchcock's. It's a vegetarian restaurant, which has only one sitting at 8pm, in the old town. Each night has a different theme which is picked by the first person to make a booking for that particular night. This can be anything, I've experienced styles from the not so-unusual Italian (which I didn't really enjoy) to Afro-Caribbean and Russian. You get a small starter to nibble on while you wait for your food, such as Bombay mix in the case of Indian, and then when the food is served you just take a plate and fill it from a large selection of dishes. You can then keep returning all night although there is also desert, this is always the same few items and I think only the Pecan Pie, Apple Crumble and Fruit cocktails are vegan, they do have a few flavours of Swedish Glace ice cream too though. All you can eat for only £10 (£8 for students and OAPs) and it does taste really good. You do need to book in advance though as hey can only accommodate about 40 people. >Do you know any >vegetarian restaurants in York? I only know of the Rubicon, which I also never got to visit, and the Blakehead bookshop and cafe which was wonderful. A massive slice of apple pie with a vegan pastry, it was amazing. I think there is also supposed to be another restaurant near the Minster that does vegan food but I'm not sure. >Borders in Leeds is very good too - three floors with a nice cafe on the >topfloor! Been singing there too (I'm a singer by the way, don't think I've >told you before!). Have you been there? I have been to Leeds Borders but of all the ones I've visited, including Charing Cross Rd in London, I think the York one is the best. I've never tried the cafes as I don't expect them to have much in the way of vegan food, although I met up with some people in Waterstone's Piccaddilly earlier this year and they had a hummus and roasted pepper sandwich which was okay. What types of song do you sing? Michael
