Guest guest
Excellent! I'm working in the car industry right now as part of my year in industry. My reasoning is this. This company is an automotive supplier, so by working in a company like this I hope to promote greener technology (to sell to people like GM). I leave the guilt to the end user. So far I've worked on electronic throttle control (or drive by wire as you may know it), which improves emitions and fuel economy. I hope to become involved in Diesel technology to promote the use of veggie oil or bio oils in diesel engines. Diesels are better engine choice for all those considering buying. More efficient, less polluting and last longer than the petrol counterparts. There's not one positive thing petrol beats diesel on that I can think of. I agree with what you say SpaceV though. We need to move away from motor way shopping and retail parks and towards localisation. I think it should be illegal to use cars for going anything under 5 miles in a built up area. The way the automotive industry is going, and what I've seen, Emitions legalisation is forcing car to be less polluting (hence 40% of new cars being diesels). Now all we need is less of them. Car share anyone? Guest guest
Interesting - good luck in your crusade! I'm no expert on this, but I thought sulpherous emissions were worse for deisels, and maybe more carcinogenic? A lot of people don't like the fact that you can see the smoke coming out from deisel cars, but that's probably a bit misleading. I've heard though that you can switch to biodeisel with no or little modification. What is biodeisel? -- Rob PS A rough idea for a cutlure jam: " The only good throttle on a car is around the driver's neck! Lift it or lose it! " vegan-network, " Mccartney, Rowan (R.N.)
