Guest guest
I think that people who committed crimes for which they in some barbarian countries can be sentenced to death are either ill (in this case they must be cured) or they can regret all they did. Society must put them in such condition that they will regret what they did, but not that punishment emerged after court. (In current situation they regret only punishment) -------- http://vegnews.org - vegan/vegetarian news portal
Guest guest
I have to say that I'm with the godess 100%on this. There's far more point in trying to prevent crimes in the first place then punishment after the crime has happened. Maybe it's worth pointing out that Finland, proberbly the most leanient country in Europe has crime rates a fraction of our own. And then look at the crime rates in places like America that use capital punishment. I think that to look at avoiding or just not creating the social conditions that create 'monsters' in the first place is a far better option then to punish the people who do these things. Jim > So, you're saying that we should kill everybody who has ever murdered > or abused another person? Firstly, it is not as simple as that because > there is not always 100% proof of someone's guilt. Secondly, ok, so we > get rid of all these people? What would that solve? How could you tell > if someone is going to become a murderer or a paedophile after we've > done that? > > I think this issue is integral to the way in which society works, it > is not as simple as getting rid of all those guilty of crimes. > Well, there's my 2 cents worth for today, I think!! > > Sas. Guest guest
I'm sucked in already Any murder, especially those commited by the state, will reinforce to many people that under certain circumstances it is OK to murder. I believe (coupled with hope) that humanity is still young and niave, and that although there will be many more murders before we come of age, we will eventually grow up. Guest guest
> However I think 'evil' does exist and I don't beleive there is always hope that these people will change. I think you've misunderstood me. I'm not saying this people will _ever_ change, what I'm saying is that there are usually reasons why people are 'evil'. > Sorry if I sound sarcastic here, but if someone were to come into your house and shoot your family and they were pointing the gun at you, I don't think any amount of talking and telling them you understand and love them is going to save your life. If you were in possession of a weapon, would you honestly even try to talk to them? I wasn't talking about telling people that we understand them in these situations, that would obviously be very stupid. What i meant is that we have to try and see why people do 'evil' things and try and prevent them happening in the first place. Mcveigh's murder last nite, got me thinking. If it was one of their family members or friends on death row, would people still be all for it? Would people still want to see 'justice' carried out? What's your opinion on this, Dee? Sas.
