Goodness, I go away for the weekend and hardly anything happens on the

list. Then I travel down to my parents today and find all this.

Anyway, guess where I as at the weekend? Yip, in Walsall! My girlfriend

who has recently become a vegan lives there, so we there are at least two

of you in the town then.

On Saturday I went to the Warehouse cafe for lunch on Saturday, first time

in a long while. Mmmm. And I had trifle too! Pity they don't do

sasaparilla any more. Afterwards we went to the shop (which is the next

door from the cafe for those who don't know) for the first time, I never

had any need before as my gf was previously only vegan when with me. She

was shocked as she though the FoE at the bottom of the stairs from the cafe

was the shop. Quite good, not exceptional but had a lot going for it. I

saw Bio-D products for the first time so bought some polish (which I then

had to carry around all day then bring back to Hull with me). And guess

what? Bio-D are based here in Hull yet the only place I know locally that

does it is a co-op which delivers at a time unsuitable for me. Sadly

Birmingham is a bit too far for regular shopping (unlike York and, soon,

Leeds).

One place which I'd like to recommend, even though I have yet to go there,

is 'The Mongolian Bar' restaurant in Ludgate Hill (near Snow Hill). You

get given a wok, you put in the ingredients you want and then hand it to a

waitress (so that it gets cooked separately, guess it is the utensils which

would be shared as you know the pan is safe) to cook. Sounds great,

doesn't look expensive (the wok is £9.95 for two hours, all you can eat, ie

refilled wok) and I might be making a dedicated trip next week just to eat there
