Guest guest
Hello out there, My name is nicole and I have just signed up to the vegan network so thought it fair enough that I should offer some kind of introduction and also I have a couple of questions. Well firstly I have made the shift to veganism only this year after being vegetarian for around thirteen years with the exception of one and a half years in recent history when under the influence of a chef I tasted the other side. When I realised that relationship was not so good for my health and therefore had to end so did my carnivorous habits. With the support of some new friends I have adopted veganism and feel no reason why the change is not permanent as it is one which I had aspired to in the past. On the signing up mail something was mentioned about different forms of veganism, maybe someone could enlighten me as to what they are or where to find info on them. Also what about honey and wine? Currently I am working on a herb nursery about 20miles from Cambridge and will be running a herb stall at the Cannabis Carnival in Brockwell park on Saturday the 16th June. So if you will be around please come and say hello! Sincerely, Nicole _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. It took me a while to get myself out of a bad relationship with a meat-eater when I was younger, and I never regretted making the decision to rule out meat-eaters as boyfriends. > > With the support of some new friends I have adopted veganism and feel no > reason why the change is not permanent as it is one which I had aspired to > in the past. Also what about honey and wine? > Honey is not vegan (I'm pretty sure there is something on the Vegan Society website about the abusive practices that go on to produce and collect it), but golden syrup is quite yummy if you want something sweet and sticky, and if you get the Vegan Shopper (formerly known as the Animal-Free Shopper) from the Vegan Society, it is good value for money and tells you a lot about vegan wines and other vegan products and pitfalls to look out for. > > Currently I am working on a herb nursery about 20miles from Cambridge and > will be running a herb stall at the Cannabis Carnival in Brockwell park on > Saturday the 16th June. I'm in favour of the non-drug uses of hemp and use as a drug for MS, but not in favour of people using it to get out of their heads, so I could not personally support such an event. Besides I have invited vegans and vegetarians, families especially (lots there for the kids) and others too to join us for a picnic on Saturday in Cassiobury Park, Watford, so I am hoping a few people from this list will bring food to share and join our modest gathering instead of supporting the Dopefest 2001. Nothing against you personally, I used to work in a herbalists shop and am very in favour of herbal remedies. Are you a herbalist yourself, or do you know any good ones? I have ongoing chest trouble, I think possible mild asthma (caused by being brought up in a haze of second-hand tobacco smoke from my mommie dearest), and as I am expecting my third child, I need specifically to know which herbal teas might help my chest problems, and are also safe in pregnancy. Someone on this list was supposed to be putting me in touch with her herbalist friend, but she has left the list and has not responded to email. I tend not to trust doctors, in my experience they get so much wrong.
