Guest guest
Hey everyone I haven't really contributed much to this discussion list before now. I was talking to one of my 'friends' online the other day who I've chatted to for ages. He then realised I was a vegan and whoah it changed completely! He went on and on about how he can't understand even vegetarians, how humans are designed to eat meat, how its not natural NOT to eat it! I was really annoyed because this is what I hate - I wasn't arguing with him that he should'nt eat meat, yet he was having a go at ME because I choose to eat it. He didn't accept that we even have a choice in the matter. Needless to say I won't be talking to him anymore! I wondered what everyone thinks the best thing to say in these circumstances is? I found myself getting angry which just makes it worse! Just felt I had to share this experience with other vegans who might understand! :-) Xtreme. Guest guest
They feel guilty and try to shift the blame on to you rather than face up to what they are doing. point out that your diet hurts no one- human or animal -and its your freedom of choice so why is he becoming agressive. Angie Who decides whether it's natural or not ??Is ice cream natural?? If its not natural or healthy you will become ill and die I'm still waiting to die after 35 years the diet can't be that unhealthy!!!!! - XtremeX100 vegan-network Thursday, June 21, 2001 12:38 PM Re: [100% veg*n ] Meat Eaters Argument! Guest guest
Just felt I had to share this experience with other >vegans who might understand! >Xtreme. I also feel I have to share my odd experience too. This morning I was speaking to the farmer who owns the land I live on. He brought up the subject of meat eating, and I thought..'oh, here we go', but to my surprise, he actually said that eating meat was cruel and he agreed with most of what I'd said!! He also mentioned that he once kept pigs as well as sheep. He stopped keeping pigs because he realised the pig was an intelligent animal and one in particular apparently 'knew' it's fate on the day he took it to the slaughter house, with the fight it put up! Sudden attack of conscience? I wonder. He still has sheep and as to how he thinks of them different to any other animal I don't know. Although I don't agree with killing animals for food in this day and age, the ones who will kill an animal then eat it, do not make me as angry as the ones who will get someone else to do the dirty work for them. I've always said I wouldn't eat what I couldn't kill. I bet there would be a lot more veggies if we did have to kill our own food! There has also been a house maid working at this farmers house, who immediately turned veggie when she came to live here after realising that the sheep in the field were the same ones that were going on her plate. So, as she does all the cooking, Mr. farmer has more or less become veggie! I have to laugh at this.
