Guest guest
well, it is time for me to do my " Jerry Springer " psyhco-wind-up as I am taking some time off for a couple of days or so from Monday evening. new members might have to stay on hold but most of you should be able to post as normal. be nice to each other, consider other's feelings, edit your replies down to an absolute minimum and remember there are another 100 people out there that read everything you broadcast. i have been thinking a lot about how we have so often focus on other's wrongs, especially those big wrongs over which we have no power and little influence, and yet ignore the little wrongs we do ourselves and have immediate power over. there is no doubt to my mind that we chose to point our fingers at other's big wrongs, wrong may they be, as a way of feeling better about our own lack of importance or as a way of busying ourselves as we ignore the changes we could and need to make in our own life. critising so seems to justify our being while allowing us to ignore our own lack of progress. from Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, there comes the concept of Ahimsa, the " not harming of self and others " in actions, words and even thoughts, that is at the core of a noble vegan lifestyle. as we discuss " what is veganism " or question " what a vegan way of doing things " is, perhaps, we are trying to define what has already been defined 2 or 4 thousand years ago by minds much more enlightened than our's. the nature *and practice* of Ahimsa. note that it requires practice and practicing. according to The Wise Ones, this concept of expanding one's compassion is taken one step further. at first one practices responsibility over our own thoughts, words and actions as these are recognised to harm one's self first. then one extends this to the effect they has over other living and non-living things. then one extends it to encompass others in attempt that their thoughts, words and actions do not harm them, you or third parties. it is seen as an act of compassion to become involve in straighten society out. and a class room because may of the ethic difficulties we face are unwritten and new. we have to be brave enough to experiment in ths classroom. as much as we have the strength, we should grasp any new opportunity that arises to be learnt from keeping in our intention the highest good we are capable of. sometimes it is hard and we are confused but it seems that through actions, even erroneous actions, we learn most. not theorising. love is the core of human being and centred within the heart. we do not have to aspire to it, it is our inherent nature. all we have to do is remove those things which limit and hinder it. our ego, all its games, desires and demands, being the first. but it is balanced by truth, which is centred in the soul within the head. it is necessary to have a balance of both and without a doubt a deficiency of one will lead to a deficiency in the other. where there are lies, there cannot be love. lies destroy love. to hurt or damage the love factor within other human beings, in what ever way, is the greatest wrong as it is that factor which binds humanity together. likewise to damage the truth factor, to live in lie, to spread lies or decieve is equally bad because human beings need the truth to grow strong and straight. fraud exists in spiritual law just as much as in temporal law. we may think that it is clever to gain position or services from other through false deception but ultimately we make an uncomfortable bed for ourselves. by damaging those things that are most precious to human beings we exclude ourselve from the natural light and natural goodness that is most convincing in encouraging others to change in their lives. most often by us saying nothing. even though we feel that we can do nothing, often that is just what is being asked of us. to do nothing. nothing bad. nothing to hurt others, nor hurt ourselves. nothing that is unloveful and nothing that is untruthful. doing this sort of nothing takes a lot of practice because it is the fertile ground of all out little lies and hates that great evils, great ignorances, plant their seeds in and let them grow. be vigilant. john
