I did read Lord of the Rings finally in February after 3 attempts at starting and giving up at 500 pages, prefered the Hobbit. Looking forward to seeing the movie at Christmas. at the moment I'm working my way through the Harry Potter books, I'm on the fourth and I love them. Pure escapism, easy to read when you've spent all day at a computer and you want to chill. Highly recommend you give them a go.
