Guest guest
Erm, it's what Fraggle said. It is pretty hard to define Goth as it is somewhat general and allows for a lot of different people within it. It started out as a post punk culture categorized mostly by dress and music it has continued to evolve although it is no longer as big as it was in the mid 1980s. Fashion is quite a big thing but the styles differ greatly from a Victorian style clothing with long flowing dresses, lace and velvet to a 'modern' leather and pvc style with short skirts. I used female examples as they serve as better examples but it is, in general, genderless and men can also wear things like makeup and skirts. As for music this too goes between different extremes from All About Eve to Sisters of Mercy to modern electronic sounds (names used only because of mainstream familiarity). What makes something goth might be the sound, or the band, or the lyrics, there is no real determinant. Overall one of the main things about the goth community is that you are able to yourself, hence the genderlessness, even if in practice " they all seem to dress the same and listen to the same music " . Another bad attempt at explaining I think. I hope between us all with been some help Sergio.
