Guest guest
Considering what has happened to Lesley it looks more like people are getting ten minutes in the sin bin Rugby style. If I read John's email correctly though, after commenting on Lesley he said that he does not want to see us disagree with other vegans so I can only assume her crime was to have a difference of opinion. Yes - the thing is, that several of us had the same difference of opinion. I don't think it was my fault that the London Vegans were not friendly to me - in fact, it is a most unusual occurrence. Also if people with children were also treated in an unfriendly matter, it does not seem to me to be a crime to comment on it. There was no foul language, and Lesley certainly did not call anyone rude names. Jo

Considering how much everyone seems to be in agreement why don't we all have a collection so that when Lesley dies (hopefully a long way off) we can build her a fountain. I guess it all depends on what you classify as foul language or rude names. If someone called me a " child-hating vegan " or a " rabid and vociferous child-hater " without actually bothering to check if this might be an accurate description of my views I think I would be quite upset/angry. Lesley's original post stated that a friend of hers with a toddler had said she had had to deal with some " intolerant attitudes " at a London Vegans. These attitudes and the expression of them at the meeting were left to our imagination and yet no one asked for more detail. Instead it was assumed that the description of " child-hating vegans " was mostly accurate. Lesley was not even at the meeting. I should say that I know Robin and Allison. I do not know what their views are on children, nor would I wish to comment on them if I did, if only because they are not list members. I wonder how the discussion would have gone if they had been. As for John's reasons for showing Lesley a second yellow card, I suggest you read his " Lesley's Angry Inner Child " post again. In it he spoke of " unsubstantiated ideas " and " tabloid propaganda " -style language. Whether anyone agrees with his choice of action or not, these are his stated reasons and he is the list moderator. It is easy to forget that the words we use are not the things themselves.
