Guest guest
Dear Fellow Vegans, I became a vegan in late February. After many years of wishing I had the will to do it, the foot-and-mouth crisis finally meant there was no going back. In the 4 months since then, despite sticking ultra-rigidly to a vegan diet and lifestyle (but still not being able to replace my leather (!!!!) boots with something that might fit an extra-wide-footed size 13 like myself), so much has happened in my life in dramatic ways, that I have not yet had the chance to meet another vegan since becoming one myself. Now I have found the Vegan Network, could someone out there please talk to me who shares the feelings and opinions that I do. I have carried this burden alone to much derision from even my close family. Someone out there please show me that other people have the same feelings that I do. Please email me at mart.world Thanks, Stone Eagle UK
Guest guest
Hi Stone, and welcome. You are not alone, but even for old hands like me (15 years vegan) sometimes you feel like you're in the wilderness. And I still get derision from my family - I can't even persuade those close to me to stop using animal tested household cleaners, for which no-one can give me any justification. So - the usual thing is ask you where you are, what you do, what your likes/dislikes etc... vegan-network, mart.world@v... wrote: > Dear Fellow Vegans, > > I became a vegan in late February. There was a time long ago that I lived (literally) in the wilderness. Probably the best years of my life..... > And I still get derision from my family - I can't even persuade those > close to me to stop using animal tested household cleaners, for which > no-one can give me any justification. I think we have to attack on more than one political front at times.....other forces have these peoples' attentions..... > So - the usual thing is ask you where you are, what you do, what your > likes/dislikes etc... I am in the Pennines of the North. I do what I feel is best for me, those I love, those I care about, and for every other creature, often not in that order! LOL. I have had many " careers " including my own computer games programming setup from the age of 9, website-building, various work with organisations, travel, some dishonest activites too (don't worry - I only trick people who anger me - and I'm on your side). I have just moved back to England, and I am trying to find my next project. My likes seem to be decreasing in number by the day. The ones which remain are often the natural ones. In terms of food - I have recently become addicted to onion sandwiches, to the hilarity of many people I know. I dislike the culture of animal enslavement for food, etc, and the arrogance of meat-eaters (like my former self). An argument I often use, is that those who encourage the enslavement and exploitation of animals, my extension and natural progression, also encourage the enslavement and exploitation of humans.
