Guest guest
> Are Yellow cards vegan? guaranteed 100% veg*n, made from re-cycled opinions, organic bullsh*t, fairly traded and extremely ethical in nature. > Seems more like a black flag - motor racing style! uh ... wasn't black flag some anarchist punk band? but anyone can have a black flag or a yellow card if they want. >Perhaps you could clarify something for me and other " newbies " : > This is not a chatline. You are publishing or broadcasting to 130 other > individuals. By all means discuss it amongst each other directly/ Bomb > the hell out of your anti-party's mail box for all I care. But please > leave the list for what brings us together, nourishes and engenders > community rather than focus on the microscopic minutae that causes > division. > Are you saying we should restrict discussion to " vegan " issues - if so, I > think it's going to get very boring, very quickly > > Peter its a question of balance. this list does not belong only to a small handful of people. keep up a good contribution of related On Topic subjects and you will get away with some mischief. for a lot of vegans this list is their only connection with other vegans and a place to receive inspiration and a sense of community. it is also where people that are interested in becoming vegans will come and receive an impression of what vegans are like. i like would think that there was more to veganism than just bitching, gossiping and saopboxing about your favourite hobby horse. you can always take " Off Topic " subjects " Off List " . Post a mail OT: [ then subject matter ] if you want to ask if anyone is interested if following something up. you do not need to post everything to everyone. *especially* if it is going to make for a hostile unwelcoming, unfocused environment. if it is upbeat, funny, informative, welcoming, helpful, meant in good spirit: fine. on the otherhand if you are trying to put some other vegan group down, cause divisions or use the list for your own private agenda; forget it. i'll come down on you with my hammer hard - if i can get it back from fraggle. there are plenty of good examples such as Rowan, Rob, fraggle, Suz, Ashley, Sergio are all good example of individuals that give to the list and offer regular interesting deviations but without dominating it. > What did Lesley say that was wrong? > I can only assume her crime was to have a difference of opinion. > How much is there to discuss about veganism? Lesley did not get banned. another example, as the guy from the London Vegan said, of her switching her mouth ... or in this case fingers ... on before she switched her brain on. I just set her posts to be moderated for a while until she cools off. I have mailed her on numerous ocassions privately. She admits she has a little bit of an obsessive nature when it comes to email and neglects other important issues in her life. so i made an " executive decision " on her behalf, as they say. everything has a context. She got her first yellow card for refusing to edit off the miles of replied to emails despite consant polite requests. This makes things very hard for people to follow that receive the digest mode. I spent a long time trying to get her to do so and edit her emails into a readable form, i.e. use paragraphs. She got her second yellow card because I got sick of the most recent rant regarding the London Vegans, the harsh tones and negativity. especially as it turned out to be erroneous and deliberately prejudicial. that really upsets me. right now I am kind of busy because an old lady friend has come down with terminal cancer, another friend is nursing her and i am invovled with support. Dont have the time nor stomach for aggrovations right now. john > isinglas comes from fish bladders wasn't isinglass originally sturgeon's air sacks or something? that means it must be a by-product of the caviar industry
