Guest guest
Hi, I know this is slightly off topic but I am trying to find out if there is a list of UK companies that do and do not test their cosmetics on animals. I can only find US lists. I want to know if the John Frieda and Nivea ranges do test on animals but I cannot find out - can anyone help? Guest guest
Not off-topic at all IMHO PETA used to have a list here: http://www.peta.com/liv/ukguide.html, but now they send it to you (its free). The BUAV also have a guide - see www.buav.org. You could also contact the manufacturers. I had a quick look at the Nivea site - the parent company is Beiersdorf. There is a list of frequently asked questions and when asked " Does Beiersdorf conduct animal experiments? " the reply is " In line with the European and national legislation Beiersdorf does not perform experiments on animals in order to assess the safety and efficacy of cosmetic ingredients or finished products. " However, I would not be too hopeful about this - this is a very narrow question and is the same way that Boots in the UK gets away with animal testing - they subcontract, so strictly speaking Beiersdorf does not conduct animal experiments, but they can still get their contractors to test both the ingredients and the finished products. You could ask them a more specific question (they have a contact form on line). Being a cynic, I would say that if they were really against animal experiments, they would be displaying one of the Cruelty Free logos that are available. And there are plenty of truly cruelty free alternatives, that also use more natural ingredients. John Frieda's website is not ready yet, but try asking: customerservice -- Rob vegan-network, XtremeX100@a... wrote: > Hi, I know this is slightly off topic but I am trying to find out if there is > a list of UK companies that do and do not test their cosmetics on animals.
