Guest guest
This is probably old news, but Co-op label appropariate products as " suitable for vegetarians and vegans " . No messing around with vegan product lists, no looking through ingredient lists trying to figure what is being hidden under some obscure wording, just clear succinct labelling which is there in black and white. They also labels the approriate non food items as having " no animal ingredients " . Last but by no means least, they use a vegaetable derived glazing agent on fresh fruit and veg. They do not use shellac, so the fresh fruit and veg is vegan also (unlike Tesco who are shellac users). Guest guest
Yeah, Co-Op's brilliant in that respect! It'd be bliss if they'd diversify their range of foods for vegans, but I shouldn't be too greedy, I suppose. I've written and telephoned both Tesco and Sainsbury's (though I don't think that I'll be shopping at Stainsbury's anymore if the rumour that I heard is true: they sell exotic meat) to ask them if they have plans to revamp their labeling system to " suitable for vegans " . Sainsbury's said that they are in the process of it, but Tesco only offered to send their list of vegan products. Sigh... xxk@xx - Soche id vegan-network Saturday, July 28, 2001 8:29 AM Re: [100% veg*n ] Jam Doughnuts from supermarkets This is probably old news, but Co-op label appropariate products as " suitable for vegetarians and vegans " .
