(yes, i realize somewhere in the united kingdom!) the local supermarkets have like 6 to 8 varieties of eggplant, and you can find even more in china town... it struck me as hella strange, that while i was in jolly ol england, all the resturants i saw served chips..even the chinese ones...one place in Bath didn't even have rice on the menu....just things like chinese mixed vegetables..and chips... egads!!! cheers fraggle lozzylorrie wrote: > >hiya, >i lost my connection for about three monbths so long time no comment! >now im back. >why do people seem to think that all vegans want to eat things like >eggplant and other such things that others have neva heard of! >personaly i just prefer chips, peas and beans! restaurants are just >as bad its always a choice of mushrooms or pasta perhaps I want >chips!!!!! im vegan not trying to slim!! unfortuantely im still >tryiong to find a restaurant that serves vegan chipy meals that arent >three bits of the extras menu put together!!! >is it just me or does every otha vegan like eating things that are >hard to find in tescos and neva heard of by many of the population!! > >nuff ranting no ! cu loz > > > > >To to the Digest Mode [ recommended ], send an email to: vegan-network-digest > >

Ah you're probably just confused by people using the american name - to us they're just plain old aubergines... > personaly i just prefer chips, peas and beans! restaurants are just > as bad its always a choice of mushrooms or pasta perhaps I want > chips!!!!! im vegan not trying to slim!! Well I have to admit that dating a vegan (and subsequently becoming one) introduced me to many more different types of food. Personally I'd avoid too many of the chips, but I've no particular objection to them - it's just that there's so many other things you can be trying that most people don't ever see. > unfortuantely im still > tryiong to find a restaurant that serves vegan chipy meals that arent > three bits of the extras menu put together!!! Well most " chippy " meals come with things like fish or sausages or random slimey meat pies (named meat costs extra). What exactly are you looking for? Some people would count even a vegetable burger as " weird " , so it's all relative... > is it just me or does every otha vegan like eating things that are > hard to find in tescos and neva heard of by many of the population!! Tesco is probably a bad example there - they've taken to stocking all manner of weird and wonderful things and jumped on the organic produce bandwagon much sooner than most of the others (apart from Iceland, maybe). But yes, I like the fact there's loads of other " weird " things I can eat - like tofu, seitan, funny seaweeds, etc. Of course I'm quite lazy so for the most part I rely on the canteen at work, where our chef does a reasonable job of catering for vegans (and there's a few of us - about 5 people out of the 200). ...ciaran -- Ciaran Anscomb YAY to Badminton Courts, BOO to Cages
